Skene controller IQ-275 took a dump

On a recent trip down to Georgia, I got into some heavy rain. When I went to head home, I started up the bike and it let bout a significant puff of smoke. I knew right where it came from and the t had the distinct smell of electrical components frying.

I turned the bike off and found the culprit. My normal headlights worked perfectly and the only issue was that my aux lights were inoperable. So I continued home.

I called Skene, now owned by Cyclops, and they are hooking me up with a new controller at a generous discount. I told them it was older and that I didn’t buy it directly from Cyclops. But they said we rep our products. She asked me how long ago it was so I looked up that DesignFlaw installed it 5 years ago.

So I guess I need to give them a shout out for their customer service. The lady on the phone, Sandra, was great and she even told a couple stories about Dork in the Road. Good company with real people.

I will buy from them in the future for sure.

I've got Skene controllers on both the FJR and the Suzuki.
I screwed up when i ordered the one for the Suzuki and didn't get the one that makes the lights go spastic when you blow the horn or flash your headlights a couple of times.

I'm curious - where was it mounted on the bike, and was it exposed to any water in that location (i.e., while riding in heavy rain, could it have had rain water leaking onto it or flowing down a wire harness to it??

Mine is attached to the outside surface of the battery tray between that and the fairing.
