Hey All,

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. Just picked up a 38K mile 2015ES model for a song and saw this forum as a great resource.

Previously, I have had a 96 YZF600R, 82 XJ750 Seca and a 2003 DL1000. Sold the DL (my last bike) when commuting was taking it's toll and hadn't ridden in 8 years. The wife wanted to get back on a bike (she loves riding 2 up) and I knew when I was going to get a bike again, it would be the FJR1300. Hoping this bike lasts me for the rest of my life. We won't put more than 5K a year on the thing and mostly 2-up.

Thanks for having a killer community!

Paul

Welcome to our little sandbox, and congratulations on getting the ‘15 ES!

Post up 5 posts (I think), and it’ll open up more of the forum to you. Look around, and I’m certain you’ll find something that interests you.

Welcome from south Louisiana.

At 5K per year, it WILL last forever. But I doubt you'll ride 5K per year. This is a mileage eater. Day trips that used to be a hundred miles will not be 250 or more. Long weekends will be a thousand.

There are a couple of maintenance items that, if you are not 100% certain have been done on schedule, you should get to pretty quick. If you are even remotely handy with tools, you can do it all yourself with little or no money. We can confidently walk you through all of it. Once you take care of and learn this stuff, you can ride for tens of thousands of trouble-free miles. Seriously - an FJR with 100,000 miles on it is ..... not anything special.

Hope you enjoy your bike.

Welcome from Iowa, Paul. Two '15s in the garage here, an ES with 160k, and an A with less than 12k. You may find yourself doing more than 5k a year just because you can.
