Last year, Yamaha Canada had the black with gold wheels and trim and there was speculation that it would be the last year for our market. Canada is offering the same Cobalt Blue as the USA for 2023. No changes, as far as I can tell.
For accessories, I see they are listing the foot shields for a mere $507 CAD.
They also list a GPS stay I had not seen before.

Nice scoop! I had been checking their website every few hours since Monday morning and even as of early this morning they hadn't updated it yet.

I *told* everybody there would be at least one more year of the FJR! Now let all the naysayers start pontificating about the FJR's demise for 2024..... My personal SWAG? Since there is no Black/Gold 'final special' edition offered for this year, 2023 will NOT be the last year of the FJR.

So I see it went up a whopping $100 is MSRP. Freaking inflation! (Though I also see there is some $375 freight surcharge on top of the $475 destination charge)

I have one of those I took off a used FJR I bought previously. If anyone wants it I will sell it for cheap assuming I can find it.......

Those same surcharges were shown on last years' web page. Yes, I looked.

Whew...no black/gold combo saved me a whole wad of cash! Retirement is still in sight.

Having got a comfort seat (free with a previous purchase), to my old and skinny backside there's no difference, or maybe just a tad less slippery.

I do use it because I have it, and I think it looks nicer.

I love my FJR. If I had to replace it today, it would be replaced with another FJR. I'm not even remotely close to entertaining the thought of moving on to a different replacement bike. I think most manufacturers of motorcycles and cars have certain things they just nail to perfection. Remember the 231 Buick motors? So amazing. Ford's 302 these days, Chevy's 350, and diesels are the same way. Some people just hit something out of the park and refine it to near perfection. Honda's Gold Wing engine is another example.

For me, the FJR engine is that for Yamaha. The R1 engines are known to be lacking on power, it's a known issue. You can see it on the dyno.

I love knowing that the bike isn't going to let me down. You can't say that about a lot of bikes.

I'm sure it's convenience more than anything. There's no effort or cost in leaving the color the same. No new designs, approval, etc. The just-in-time manufacturing process leaves very little inventory and there are big advantages to that. The downside is that chain is easier to break as everyone is all too familiar with right now. Any changes such as paint color might introduce new challenges to availability.

Looking dated doesn't mean it looks worse. Honestly I think appearance wise, just about every new model of motorcycle has taken a giant step backwards all in the name of cost. One sided headlight, single exhaust, fewer fairings, etc. have just been normalized to the point of considered "modern" looking. Maybe it is appealing to more than I think, but all I can see if cheapening out for the sake of profit. I'll take the FJR over anything else right now!

I agree with Festus. I would replace my FJR with another FJR if I had to. The question I'm asking is "Do I have to?" The latest model of the FJR offers nothing of value over my current one except that it is 17 years newer. I only have 75k miles on my 2006 and many would say that it is still just a baby. But the FJR days are numbered and the availability of getting one as a replacement is going to decrease rapidly. When the 06 needs to be replaced, will the option of the FJR even be available (new or used)? The very simplistic theory is that buying one now would reset the clock and gain me 17 more years of riding an FJR. That's assuming that the lifespan of my 2006 is the same as a 2023. I'm not naïve to think it's really that simple, but it is enough to make me contemplate it.

The ID stamped on the frame lists mfr date.

If you want an intercontinental tourer (2-up if neccessary) like the FJR with shaft FD, power up the wazoo north of 5k, great luggage and plenty of aftermarket lighting options with plenty of charge power, cruise, abs, power modes...you ALREADY have it in today's FJR. I may be an old buzzard, but I've had this bike since my early 40s and have always loved it. And I can still kick ass in it.

I'm glad it's still offered as well, who knows...I may outlive Lucky13...likely not, but who knows??
