So, what's it worth?

Ive' decided it's time to replace my 04 FJR. It'll be 100,000 miles in the next 30 days. I'm in no rush, but I figure it's time. I've never ridden any bike I've ever owned that kind of distance. Hell, I usually turn over bikes at the 2 year mark! Over the winter I've been shopping and have a very short list of bikes I'm looking at.
The question is, what's it worth? It's going to be all but impossible to sell a bike with a 100K on it. I plan on parting out the some of the bike specific goodies. FJRiders will get first crack at them.
The bike is in good shape considering the mileage, engine is strong, burns no oil. No dents or major scratches. But lots of rubs, scuffs and patina from a 100,000 miles of smiles
So throw out a number that would get you interested in it.

+1, Gunny; I despise having to agree with a Canuck, but Bungie's right!

Oh for Petey's sake Steve, I was talking about my ex-wives not the motorcycles!
If I'd never married like a smart guy such as yourself, I'd now have 100+ motos!

Steve,
KBB lists '04 non-abs FJR at $3745 trade in and $5445 retail. Their value tool does not allow for mileage offset, but they have a chart that shows anticipated mileage for an '04 motorcycle is 39500 miles. This is by no means the absolute in bike values, more of a starting point.
If you list it now, in the spring, when people are looking, you might get $4-4500 out of it. It's about finding the right person at the right time and how bad they want it.
good luck.

That is just silly talk there Steve...... I have no intentions of getting rid of my 2004 FJR any time soon...... Maybe another bike.....
I keep looking at scooters or a UTV:lol: you know something a little different.

Last Sept I got $4,500 for my 04ABS, at 89,700 miles from my ins co when the deer took it out.
Be happy with anything above 4

US bike? ABS might make a difference up here, but 100,000 MILES is a real roadblock. We can usually get $1-2K more than typical US prices, but if it's a US bike with that mileage I would think it is simply worth keeping and run it until it quits. The FJR is a good bike, and if you can see yourself on it for another year or two, it will still be worth the same then. Meanwhile, save up for the new one.
I'll likely turn over 100,000 kms. this year, and I've just decided to either keep another two years or it until it quits or until it has 300,000 kms. or something like that. Too much fun and I don't need a 2013 yet.

Ya know, when you say scooter, 2 words immediately pop into my mind.
Mad. Bastard.
It's on during CFR running out of Barrie. I'll be swinging by the start/finish on my way down to the ARC class on the Saturday night.

No. Canadian bike, I'm just a RCH away from 163KM (100K miles).
I realize it's not worth diddly. Hell, I wouldn't buy a 100K bike at nearly any price. Sure as shit a dealer won't want it. I go through this every spring. If I can just hold off and those damn 990 SM-T/Tenere/FJR/Wee's stop beckoning to me...

This is on about 100km the same weekend as the CFR Rally. Think we could fool them into believing the FJR is just a big ass scooter? I mean, look at all the tupperware!
EDIT: Dammit, it was in Barrie last year. My mistake, it's in Belleville this year.

Perhaps this will help as even the master says " Bungie, what you need is on of these fine Austrian machines to raise hell"
Steve, I have to say this SMT is so FUN!
Come on down to Northern Ca this summer and ride mine. I can spend your money faster than you can, plus 2013 is the last year for the SMT-it will be a cult bike now.

Bug, your not helping at ALL.
That's what started all of this. I found a new on the floor white 2012 SM-T that was discounted about $2500. Turned out I missed it by 3 days. So that dealer called me back and told me about the ever so lovely black, 2013 that they haven't even got out of the crate yet.
Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to put myself back into exile until the urge passes.

Your Evil.
So, assuming a completely lose my mind what accessories from KTM should be on the list? Centerstand for sure. How decent are the Adventure panniers/mounts (the plastic ones, not those cute little bags yours has

) I told the dealer I'm looking for two quotes, one just the bike, the other the bike with accessories.
How would you rank the bike for touring. I don't mean 1000 mile days, more in the 500 range?
I've been reading up on one of the SMT forums and seems to be issues with fuel pumps and rear subframe mounts breaking when top boxes are used (apparently fixed by ktm in 2011). Loss of a top box isn't a deal breaker for me. The other issue is insurance costs. This is most definitely a hoon bike. I'm almost afraid to ask my ins. company for a quote.

Nice of Papa Chuy to only pose beside it. It would've been really embarrassing for him to have to sit there waiting for the EMTs and Fire Dept to show up with a KTM stuck between his cheeks.
