Hello
New to this forum but NOT new to bikes as I stil own a 1986 FJ 1200 I purchased in 1990. I sold a 2007 ZX-14 several years ago and 1998 new ZX-9 before that one.I now have a new to me 2008 FJR AE with 41,000 miles , first bike with bags and trunk. LOL . I started riding bikes in the 1960's Honda S-90, 160, 305, 350,750,CB1100F then FJ1200 . i worked at a BSA/Yamaha shop in my late teens and later went to work in a Tool&Die shop learning how to making molds for shape charges, ended my career selling Air/Craft Hardware &Components. Oh I did work at D&D Performance Exhaust for a few years in the late 90's to 2001.Tech Support and Sales&Marketing when D&D was in there hay days selling 4/2/1 systems, new owner now just H-D & other twins... I use to Drag Race anything that rolled or floated in my younger day up to a few years ago. My right shoulders rotator cup said NO more skeet shooting or Hard Riding in dirt or landing the front tire hard from the wheelies in 1 st gear. Now it's a tall Cee Bailey wind shield and better seat etc etc no more headers, carbs etc etc etc it's all about riding from Texas to Arkansas and ride in the Ozark Mountains with friends, I use trailer my bikes up but this spring now that I am retired riding this one up. I rode my ZX-14 Ninja up in 2009 and was sore for a week LOL This AE with no clutch lever is a PLUS my hand got sore if I was in heavy traffic. Joined the forum to lear all I can about FJR.

Louis, welcome to the mix. There is a ton of information here and a couple of other sites.
Enjoy the retirement. I may be visiting that realm a bit sooner that I had originally planned, but it seems to be very doable. Likes way to short to be doing stuff that there is little to no interest...

Been there, pushed the wrong button, melted it down. Wasn't pretty.
I'm far east over by Forney but work in north Irving and ride as often as I can.

too funny melt down...., then you know why i like to ride there from Watauga/Keller area where we live. Wife works in Irving , grown son lives in Azle near Mom's lake house on Eagle Mt. Lake. I was raised in Richland Hills in the HEB area in Tarrant County. I am going to ride the FJR to the Ozark Mt this year and not trailer a sport bike up. 2009 I rode my 2007 ZX-14 to Arkansas and back and week in the mountains and was sore for a week when I got home. the"Connie 14" touring seat and taller (slightly) wind shield and soft luggage helped and it was fun but Hiway miles got to be tiring not a teenager any more.

If you like NW Arkansas, there's a group in this forum that usually meet up there around October. Don't think it's been organized yet.

Small world, my grown son's home is in Azle and Mom has had a lake house on Eagle Mt. Lake from college days in the 70's until a few years ago. Middle Daughter went to Azle High School in late 80's. My older brother worked at General Dynamics on the F-16 as did a LOT of people in the DFW area.

Pass on October,we usually go in late May/June before it gets really HOT. We have "trailered" them up in July/Aug and by 2 in the afternoon hit the pool at the Motel.

My brother-in-law also worked the F-16 assembly line, doing wiring and electrical harnesses. He tells some interesting stories about that work... He was also into the GD model railroad layout in their employee rec center. That was an impressive layout! My sister taught elementary school, 3rd or 5th grades I think. She was there in the early 80's through I think the early 90's.
