Front Fender / Caliper Light Brackets

I recently purchased a pair of cheap-ass LED lights on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00G6 ... UTF8&psc=1) and am toying with the possibility of mounting them either off the front fender mounts or off the brake calipers.

I took a look but didn't come across anything - for those of you who have done this, which option (fender / caliper) did you choose, and what type of bracket did you use (purchased or home-made)?

For a pair of cheap-ass lights, the ones I bought are heavier than I was anticipating so I am thinking that the caliper mount may be a bit more robust and will better handle the weight.

Thanks!

Andy, I would think either would work, as far as location. I would think that the mount would matter more, to avoid vibration.

But what do I know, I haven't stayed in a Holiday Inn Express in years.

I have found that the less you pay for LEDs the heavier they are. I believe it is more expensive to manufacture a heat sink that is lighter.

I would look into mounting the lights where they are unsprung weight. they will get less bouncing that way and unsprung weight is less likely to affect handling.

I have a pair of Denali D2D's mounted from my fender bolts. I was able to use the supplied Denali mounting brackets with some slight modification to allow the use of the stock bolts. They've been on for almost 4 years with no issues at all. I even did the same with Mona's BMW F800ST.

Clearwater Lights might sell just the brackets.

A rectangular housing with 6 LEDs might be heavier than you want down there. I have had my lights mounted on the lower fender bolt for three years without issue, but the ES fender is different. If it helps, I replaced the mounting screw provided with the lights with a longer screw that replaces the fender bolt. To keep the U-bracket off the fender, I used a hard rubber spacer between the bracket and the hole in the fender.

Geek, I don't know if this will help but I have a couple pics. My setup is a kit from MondoMoto but I probably have an extra set of their mounts here somewhere.

I know you have a Gen but the basic idea is the same.

Yeah, I know this on my old ST1300 but you can at least see the "U" bracket.
