(prepping for EOM, not today)
For the first time ever, zipped my jacket to my pants. Never before had both pieces with compatible zippers. The jacket fit a little tighter, and there was no cold air on my lower back.
Thanks, hppants, for the reminder a few years ago that it's important to zip them together.

Yesterday I washed crystalline salt powder from every nook and cranny of the bike. Came from the BRP Sunday. Pulled the Cee Bailey and big case off. Those are generally for trips. Back to local/commute/ day ride mode.

I was out the door on the FJR at 0445 this morning, saw the sun rise just east of Amboy on Rt 66. We saw temps in the high-90s through the Mesquite area and mid-50s and light rain coming over the mountain on 12 into Torrey UT this evening. The aspens are starting to get quite colorful. 658 miles today. Tomorrow night, probably Granby or Steamboat Springs...haven’t quite figured that out yet.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Got up yesterday morning to find they changed the forecast to low 70'sF and sunny. So my options became paint my stairwell, or, follow my nose.
250km of fresh pavement, bright yellow painted line and no traffic. A blast up to FJR nominal after doing a U-Turn at the end of a long straightaway.
Never listen to Fist while riding.
Stairwell still pending.

Changed engine oil & filter and put my spare rim/car tire back on in preparation for a coastal ride this weekend.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Yesterday:
Worked all day and put 5 hours on the FJR. School supplies from the school needed delivery to my son that is staying with his grandma this week for that fabulous "distant learning".....meaning they stare at an Ipad all day and listen to a first grade teacher. "Fabulous" may have been a little sarcastic.
The ride home was dark. As I've gotten older I dislike riding in the dark. Can't seem to see well when there is a car with lights coming towards me. Also the 30 deer I saw in the fields just before the sun disappeared did not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
We were running late getting into the lodge at Cumberland Falls last Tuesday. The last 8-10 miles leading in are pretty good-n-twisty through the woods. It was dark. Annette had never ridden in the dark since I'd put the aux lights on the bike. We cleared a car and I flipped the highbeams on, triggering 100% output from the LED's - instant football stadium lighting. Best farkle I've ever added to the bike...

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I decided not to put Clearwater’s on the 2018. The factory LED lighting was just so much better than the stock stuff on the 2014. I don’t want to spend $800 again, but I’ve missed those Clearwater’s a lot. Nothing like being able to turn night into day.

Which ones are you getting? When I bought my bike (used), it came with a set of Ericas mounted on the mirrors and amber Glendas on the forks. No trouble seeing or being seen, that's for sure.bill lumberg wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 7:13 pm ... I don’t want to spend $800 again, but I’ve missed those Clearwater’s a lot. Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Pulled off the rear wheel today and received the new Angel GT. Thought I ordered an A-spec, but checked and I oredered the regular GT. Oh well, the rears only last about 5,000 miles anyway. Hopefully the regular Angel GT won't explode or increase global warming! I thought the T31 GT was a pretty harsh tire. First Pirelli for me. We shall see. Can't believe how stupid easy it is to pull the rear wheel on the FJR. Did the driveshaft and u-joint maint. Shaft had a small amount of grease on it, but the u-joint had light rust on output shaft of tranny. Got everything cleaned up and greased. Rear pads look fine. Cleaned the caliper and pads up. Get tire installed tomorrow.

Pirelli has a new Angel GT II available now. I wonder how that one will be?

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Today was an easy day, only 564 miles. We had some great riding early and late in the day, but had about an hour of dealing with nasty mid-day traffic in Glenwood Springs and I70. Steamboat Springs CO tonight...tomorrow night will either be Laramie WY or Rapid City SD, depending on where my wife can get a flight to. After that, we’ll hit as many of the Black Hills roads as possible.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Pulled a big chunk of metal out of my back tire. It looked like 2” of a rat-tail file, stuck deep and sideways in the tread, but did not penetrate all the way through. The damage is bad though and not repairable, so I guess I’ll pick up another tire Saturday, since I’ll be in the vicinity of the Pony.

Very little appearance-wise... and a higher price. No compelling reason to me do go one over the other. I have the Angel GT on my VFR, works just fine.

Parks and private home owners fertilize and water the grass so it grows lushly, they plant shrubs, trees and plant gardens. Isn't that the same as ringing the dinner bell for the deer?

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Got my "new" tire installed today. Freakin tire I bought from STG is 3 years old. Not a happy camper. Their customer service was zero help. Last purchase from STG. Am I being upset for nothing? In all the tires I have purchased, I have never received one more than a year and a month or two old. Well, they don't last very long anyway, so it will be gone by spring time.

Rode about three and a half, four hours today, more time than miles due to the traffic. Still easing back into it, not pushing it. Trying to get myself back to normal. FJR therapy.
