Swapped on the Cee Bailey and v56 due to EOM being this week. Both for Mrs.Lumberg’s benefit. Busy week. Trying to get stuff done early.

Been riding the MT09 lately. Haven't ridden the FJR in a few weeks, since my trip to GA.
We had a tropical depression come over S FL. Rained all day Saturday and most of the day Sunday. Break in the weather Sunday morning so I took the FJR for about a 3 hour ride. Boring straight roads.
This road at least has a tree canopy.
Nice to ride the FJR again.

What's a v56?

What's a v56?
Givi 56 liter trunk, the whopper of the Monokey trunk family.

It’s a joy when traveling 2 up, or when carrying a lot of gear (or a suit on a hanger). A non fjr person would be hard pressed to tell a difference between it and the v47, which is what I normally use. Of course, be it a shield or a top case case, we would definitely notice the difference.

That's the V47 in my avatar picture. No matter how big the trunk, your wife/girlfriend will always have more shit stuff than it can hold. I will say that my wife has gotten much, much better at packing for extended trips.

Same here - it got a bath yesterday, packing it up tonight.
I'm pretty sure I heard it say, "it's time to go play..."

I almost sprung for a v56 prior to the Yellowstone trip to better accommodate the Spawn. But she has adapted well to bike life and we made it work.
We saw one out in Spearfish that was a Shad (I think) and it was expandable. Very slick. My V47 works fine 95% of the time. No sense spending 400 bucks for 5% of my riding. That is unless the wife tells me what need to accommodate her!
My FJR is packed and ready to shove out toward Boone on Thursday afternoon. Won’t prob make it the whole way, but I am gonna try.

Installed a second Warmnsafe gear lead from the battery. Tested both leads with the Widder vest for Mrs. Lumberg.

Realized the “good front tire/wheel assembly” I had above the garage that I was planning on using for EOM had a bad tire on it. The one on the bike now is at the wear bars....guess I’ll head to the Pony tomorrow. Oops.

I lifted the tank this morning to route a new Autocom FRS radio lead. It was a 2011 vintage cable starting to fray around the plug, causing some comm problems. It's an old Autocom unit...glad I can still find NOS parts for it on eBay!
Tomorrow morning I'll take it out for a brief ride to make sure it still runs...it hasn't turned a wheel since an oil change on May 24. I've kept it parked to save the tires for a 10-12+ day trip departing on the 22nd. We'll hit Utah, Colorado, and hopefully up to the Black Hills. I rode the B.H. back in Fall 2015, but the weather was so crappy I missed most of the scenery. I'm hoping for better weather this time. The wife will probably fly in at some point along the way to ride with us for a few days...until she gets tired of riding and I'll find an airport to drop her off and catch a ride home. I haven't done a real road trip in a year and a half, so I'm itching to get back out there.

Reminds me I'm getting tired of BT comms.... should install my Autocom, it's been a while. Hope you have a great trip, watch for the rusty bits as you start out, may you have great weather.

Pretty new rubber!
Today didn’t go like I imagined it. Got an email last night at 2230 from my boss asking if I could come in for a half day. How should I respond...”um, no. I have to ride to Columbus to get a tire”? Mind you, I haven’t flown since the end of February. Ran down there AFTER work (dang job gets in the way even during a pandemic). FYI, they didn’t have a lot of tires in stock to fit our bikes. Hopefully they’ll restock in the next day or two.
Got it on the wheel, balanced and installed on the bike. I’m ready for the morning...after I pack a few things.
I think it’s time for a drink.
