Walked out into the garage. Looked at the FJR with all of it's bugs and dirt on it. Looked at the cleaning supplies. Then I dusted and polished the gixxer. Poor FJR, it is just used and abused, but it seems to like it.

Got the call from the insurance adjuster yesterday...stopped at the dealer on my way home, and they were in the process of ordering all of my new parts...hope to have the bike back in my garage in a couple of weeks.

Walked by mine for the fifth time this week. Broke a toe on my left foot last weekend (don't ask, OK?) and it hasn't felt solid enough for gear-shifting duty.

Monday on the bike fo sho.

How'd you do that? Don't worry, you'll stub it soon and it'll hurt much worse than the actual break was. Don't ask me how I know this.

Dang, I missed this one while offline in the mountains. Glad you weren't hurt worse and that it's being repaired. Not sure of the price between gens but Gen II mirrors are $105 per side. Yes, I found this out the hard way.

Not to worried about cost...Insurance is covering $6,600.00 for the repairs.

Loaded it up and took off with Louanne to the cool mountains. Got to the BRP east of Asheville and took that to Mt Mitchell where we looked down on the rest of y'all east of the Mississippi. Then continued east and headed north over Roan Mtn...stopped and savored that view. Ate lunch at a new discovery for me, Highlander BBQ just north of Roan Mtn. Headed to Linville Falls and hiked around for awhile...then saved the views the rest of the way to our hotel in Boone.

Trip: Louanne's idea...priceless.

Yesterday: supposed to be a low to little miles day as we were gonna be tourists, hike around waterfalls and walk around Blowing Rock, NC. Yeah, we did all that and at about 3pm, we are on the BRP northeast of Boone and Louanne said, it's too early to return to the hotel, what's that loop you wanted to do? :)

So we ended up taking 16N to VA to 58W to Damascus, to 133S to Shady Valley to 421 east to Boone. Saturday afternoon I expected a lot of vehicles...Very little. AWESOME 2up riding. Quote from Louanne: "Hey! You passed in a passing zone!".
:D

Today...headed home on the bRP being chased by the southern edges of a nasty system...cool temps in the BRP, did not get rained on...but THICK fog for a few miles south of Mt. Mitchell...had to run with the hazard lights on for awhile. Hadn't had breakfast as we got chased out of Boone, so we stopped at a Waffle House in Asheville...it was a very good breakfast with great service and AC. :D

Louanne wants to know when our next weekend trip is.

The 16, 58, 133, 421 loop is fantastic. We did it at EOM last year. Line loves twisty roads. On 16 she got quiet for a little bit an then said "This is stupid twisty!"

Yesterday rode it from Little America Wyoming to Percival Iowa. 840 miles. Had the intentions for making it all the way home to Kansas City but my wife called and warned me of a very severe thunderstorm in Kansas City. Ended up stopping 2 hours short of home for the night. :( I don't really care for riding at night, even less for riding at night into a thunderstorm with lightning, high winds, and hail. Would not have been an official Iron Butt since i didn't do any of the documentation but I could have easily made it. Some other trip I guess.

Bike ran perfect the entire 3200 miles I put on it this trip. With the exception of the battery crapping out on me in Colorado. I found that NO ONE seems to keep a battery that fits on hand in that part of the state. Ended up paying alot for a Lithium Ion that doesn't fit very well. Still have to figure out how to get the battery cover to fit over it. Sort of a long story but It got me through the rest of the trip just fine.

Took it to work and back, long way home. My miles are way off this year, only 7500 so far. No big trips, no fun riding. Work is becoming a burden.

I told it how much I appreciated it as I pushed the damned BMW past it and onto the trailer. Again.

Hopefully you are putting it on the trailer to sell it! The BMW is the machine is the machine I was talking about.
