Skunk pok'n. However they did get me home after 3 hours in the hardest rain I have ridden in at night. The moment I made into my driveway I was mighty damn happy with the well worn PR2.raYzerman wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 8:08 amI have to comment... Bring it, best damn rain tire made..... I remember riding home at night in a frog strangler on Hwy 99 (freeway) at 5 over the cagers on really worn 2's. Never missed a beat.ericboutin wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 3:51 pm I'm behind again....didn't ride to work today....I was off. I did ride both Sat and Sunday. Had new sneakers put on last week...I think I bought the last set of Pilot Road 2's in the country. Found em cheap on Amazon, figured they'd be 10 years old or somethin...but they were 2019! Also changed the oil. That's it....no riding the rest of the week evidently....supposed to be a monsoon....

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I used to use PR2. The back tire lasted forever but squared off pretty good compared to others. Anyway my Pirrelli Angel G2 Spec A experiment has concluded - they are squaring off just like the first set I had. Michelin PR4s are much better in the department.
Tomorrow I am riding to Fort Phil Kearny, in Wyoming, something I wanted to do at Red Lodge but weather got in the way. When I get back I will replace the Pirelli's with Shinko Raven 009s. The Shinko's cost $159 at Chaparral Motosports. If I get 4000 miles on them I am money ahead. The unknown is how they will corner? Let's just say I am getting ready to find out. Easy does it for a while is the idea to avoid an ugly surprise.
Other tires I considered where Shinko 011 Verge and the Shinko 016 Verge. I choose the Shinko Raven 009s because folks here recommended them plus they had better reviews on the seller's web sites then the 011 or 016 Verge model. This is also a test of the reviews on Revzilla - people with all sorts of different bikes, including FJR and R12xxRTs, think highly of these tires. Relative to tires have I been spending too much time at Starbucks?
I don't have much too lose and will gain nothing if I don't try.
It is easy to talk about how long a tire last; thus becomes the Holy Grail for rating tires. Other things such as wet weather handling, squaring off, falls into the turn too easy, and general feel are not easy to measure but are important as well.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Yep... the Angel GT's are softer and you'll need more twisties and less slab to keep wear even.... The Ravens might last a bit longer, don't know for sure (yet), but I've been able to do everything I wanted... again, I intentionally don't do much slab. Nothing much lasts longer than a PR2, LD riders will want them and they aren't bad. All you can really do is try tires for your style and how they work for you. Reviews will get you in the ballpark that's about it.

Rode it to work. Been raining so much that I rarely ride to work and when I do I use the DR650 most of the time. Felt good to have Power and Acceleration. I may have slightly exceeded the posted speed limit while passing a few vehicles this morning.

I went through something similar last week. I offered to take a whiz in a cup. But my urologist... He just went and took a look at my liquids directly.
