Rode it no place. Shifter foot was recently damaged and isn't up to the job and probably won't be for a few weeks.

Sometimes the most unlikely things happen against all odds. Wearing mesh top shoes with wicking socks I had about 2 cups of boiling water find the top of my shoe. The mesh let it through and the wicking sock sucked it up. The shoe became pliable and stretchy and wouldn't come off. The sock was very pliable & stretched about 3' long but wouldn't come off. By the time I got the sock off I had awesome big blisters on the backs of my toes. Burns hurt.

Ouch. I have a Hellavua scar from a 3rd degree burn on my right elbow from a sweater that soaked up a bunch of boiling water when I was in HS. The 2nd degree burn that started on my shoulder and stopped an inch above the deep one is very hard to see these days.
If your toes hurt, get your hands on some Silvadene. It's really good stuff.

Thanks very much for that. I just mentioned to my wife I'll be going out to get some Silvadene. She was on the front porch with her tack box getting ready to go to the barn. She opened the tack box and pulled out a new, unopened spray bottle of Silvadene she bought for her horse last Friday. Timing is everything in life. Now my job is to explain to our horse that I've taken his infection prevention spray. Off to hose my toes. A couple of blisters are just starting to weep a bit. Can't catch a break!...Wait all winter and a cold Spring for some decent riding weather and BAM summer hits hard beginning in June (Christobel) with temps in the 90's+ every day (seems like it) from the crack of ass until sunset! Would be tolerable if the humidity weren't so high as well! Almost reminds of my days working in Kansas City. Especially frustrating now as covid restrictions are really easing up and there are actually places where you can stop for a meal and a drink. Even places like Nunavut and Sudbury are cookin'!

So much for ATGATT. As part of my undergrad classes since I was getting certified in Driver Ed training, we had to take a class called “Safety”. It was not solely related to Road Training, but really had more to do with accidents, risks, and statistics of home bound injuries. I found it a little boring at the time, but as I got older, I realized just exactly the kind of stuff that got you is what you want to avoid. I look at home projects and school situations way differently now in my 40s than I did in my 20s. Hope you heal quickly.

Pour the pan away from yourself. Check.
Get burned anyway.
Accident investigation:
Victim was wearing an unapproved shoe for kitchen work. Recommend fully enclosed, liquid resistant shoes.
The sink has a garbage disposal which has a rubber boot at the opening. Rubber boot can at times restrict draining.
The strainer in the sink was empty so there was no weight to hold it in place.
Pasta water was poured into the strainer. The rubber boot restricted draining. With no weight in the strainer the water buildup tipped the strainer. The angle of the strainer caused water to run up the back side of the sink, became deflected forward causing a small tsunami of water to breached the top of the sink and counter. The water was traveling in a thin sheet which hit 100% across the backs of my toes with some small force.
The likelihood of this same set of conditions occurring again approach zero.
Recommendations:
Wear appropriate shoes.
Get some weight in the strainer before increasing the water dump rate.
The takeaway: I'm pissed as heck that the weather is nice, things are opening up again and I can't ride. I tried putting on my boots -- fail. I tried lifting the shifter with my left foot -- FAIL.
I guess now would be a good time to get some maintenance done.

I'm behind again....didn't ride to work today....I was off. I did ride both Sat and Sunday. Had new sneakers put on last week...I think I bought the last set of Pilot Road 2's in the country. Found em cheap on Amazon, figured they'd be 10 years old or somethin...but they were 2019! Also changed the oil. That's it....no riding the rest of the week evidently....supposed to be a monsoon....

No lie! I haven't been out on the bike in about 10 days. It's either been hot AF or raining. I've been looking for a cave to sleep in since my igloo melted. With new PR2's? Bring it, best damn rain tire made..... I remember riding home at night in a frog strangler on Hwy 99 (freeway) at 5 over the cagers on really worn 2's. Haven't been on the bike for a week or so.. Line and I went for a toot around the city last night as the temps were falling from the face melting category. Stopped for some SoftServe. Sometimes the best rides don't involve punching holes in the horizon.

Rode to work this morning after my long weekend off. Revzilla currently has some PR2s available and I just got a set myself. Born on dates are 4519 for the front and 0420 for the rear so these are NOT old tires by any stretch. They might not be the "best rain" tire but they're definitely my favorite all around tire and I never got under 10k on any of the pairs I used on my 2007. Anxious for my Nomar to arrive so I can put those bad boys on.
Sorry Cav47 but the Shinkos just haven't been all that confidence inspiring for me. Great in the dry but I was way under impressed when the rain started.Decent life out of them though as they're closing in on 10k
