My Pirelli Angle GT Spec As are starting to square off at 3500 miles...The Angels go about 7k miles but the last 1000 miles - meh.
Are yours the GT or the newer GT2? I had a set of the Pirelli Angel GT (A spec) when they first came out and was under impressed. Initial performance was outstanding but the rear squared off more quickly than I like and the front caused the dreaded deceleration head shake at about halfway through the tread life. Only tire that has done that to me. They got changed out early. Not worth the premium price.
Will try the Michelin Road 5 after I burn through the Dunlop Roadsmart 3 I have waiting in the wings. Might try the Angel GT2 if I see some positive real world reviews that take the tires beyond a riding weekend on fresh rubber. I will buy a tire with lower initial performance if it retains profile and performance beyond 5000 miles. This was my biggest issue with the Michelin PR 2 and 3 - they became absolute turds in mid-life. Noisy with trapezoidal shape and poor handling in the front. So so performance, but squared off in the rear.

Mine are the Angel GT, not GT2.
I didn't experience head shake but I don't care for squared off tires.
I have had good experience with PR 4.

The Angel GT's are going to be a slightly softer compound than say PR4, front is single compound, good wet riding tires. Those who love them do a lot of twisty riding so don't square them off, and say they wear evenly until dead. I have one on the back of the VFR but no real mileage on it yet.
PR3 softer than PR4, front tread pattern on both suck to me, just begging for cupping/scalloping, so I'll use Z6 or Shinko Raven 009 now.
Shock yourself and try a set of those Shinkos. The brand new set that was on my CBF1000 when I bought it are doing wonderfully.
My benchmark tire for comparison is the PR4 rear and Z6 front combo.
I've had RS3's, good mileage, good for warmer weather and dry. Tad harder than PR4. I've opted not to try them again.

Removed car tire, installed bike tire (spare rim, it's easy) to use up the bike one. There's maybe a couple K miles left in it. Ordered a replacement for it. Michelin Pilot Power 2CT.

Moved the bike out of the way to make room for more building materials for my deck rebuild. Probably put fewer than 1000 km on the FJR in June. With luck and cooperative weather, it will be done in a week or so.

$300.00 - ish for a set of PR4GTs is a very good price.
I was going to try the Angel GT2 next, but if that price point holds for the PR4GT, the experiment may have to wait....

In Grand Junction getting a PR5 GT for the rear. The Shinko is giving warning signs and we want to ride spirited.
$207 plus 50 to put it on. Price of doing business on the road.

Good idea. My next tire will not be an Angle GT. Either a PR4 or a Shinko 009 cause Ray suggested it.

What Shinko did you have and how many miles did you get out of it and would you buy it again?
When a set of PR5s are going for $400 you got a pretty good deal for being on the road. Have fun!

Read his post again. It was $257 for the rear only.

I'm guessing he JUST got a rear tire.

Finished riding home from Red Lodge today. Left yesterday morning to head home, stopped in Walsenburg for the night and made it home today. Surprised my son by getting here a day early. Tomorrow will be recovery for me, and washing the layers of Wyoming bugs off every single leading surface of the bike.

Just a rear. It was flat on the middle. You couldn’t see the cords, but I really didn’t want to wind up with an emergency on my hands. I could of got another 4 to 6 hundred out of it.
I have used both the Shinko Raven and the Verge. Both have given me almost 6,000. This one, the Verge, had 5,488. Mind you, that was a ton of 2 up and at least 1200 of the last 1600 had camping gear.
800 Most recently were trashed miles in Yellowstone, Beartooth, and Chief Joseph with Spawn on the back. Lots of engine braking in curves and full throttle passes of pirates and clowns in cars.
I absolutely would buy them again. The front Shinko has 11,000 and counting now. The sides are a little beat up, but it is a dual compound that wears fast given what I was doing to it. I have a new Shinko front at home waiting.
Jim, you ride hard so you are only gonna get 5,500 out of them, but at $120 for a rear and you change your own, how can you go wrong. Unless you don’t like the ride of them, it’s a good value.
Gixxer and Craig NTXFJR can vouch for their handling.

Two up is hard on rear tires... tire pressures then need to be up... I'd say 42-44 cold in that case. Keep the heat build-up down and they'll last longer on a long trip.
Have not tried the Verge, there are two versions the 11 and 16 (dual compound), Raven 09 is single compound. AllanC runs Shinkos, he would be a better authority on what type he's running and what to expect over several sets. Definitely easier on the wallet.

Rode the North Georgia mountains again yesterday. Beautiful day. About 240 mi. Saw raIn storms in various areas, but, managed to dodge them and stayed dry all day.
