Rode 360 miles on my 13 with Ashe and others. Got my adrenaline rush for the day.
Edit: Ashe was on his Ducati.

Actually yesterday, Installed a MV Motorrad riser. After getting the 2 adapter pieces installed the rest went very quick, about 45 minutes for the entire addition. Initial setting is near all of the way rotated back, I'm 5'8" and this felt good while in the drive way. After a few miles, first impressions, I really like the more upright seating position, I will have to ride a couple of hundred miles to see if I will need to tweak the new handlebar position.

Are you familiar with the
Master Yoda Riding Position? The MV Motorrad plate, plus the advice given at the Master Yoda link, made all-day riding very comfortable for me.

Rode mine to work for the first time in, like, forever, and am saddling up now for a 45-minute 'lunch break' ride.

Rode again today, another work round trip, with detours planned in the afternoon. Now what to do with a full tank of fuel??
It's taking a bit to get accustomed to the MV addition, but initial impressions is it's a keeper.

Ordered an exhaust system. Also need to change the oil and tires before my next trip.

Two jobs done today with the help from my son Chris, fitted the Smart Turn System so we now have perfectly functioning self-cancelling indicators, and while we had the fairing off we gave the underneath of the motor a thorough clean with Brake Cleaner and got rid off 9 years of built up gunge, looking much better down there.

A while ago, the braided stainless line feeding my RaceTech shock's remote preload adjuster decided to separate/break off at the fitting. Got a local guy to make up a new line a bit longer so there was less strain..... all refilled and bench tested, should have the shock back on today.

Got up at 6am, met Griff at 6:45 and we had a nice twisty, scenic ride to the BRP and back. 3 hours and 170 miles. Awesome scenery up on the BRP early. If I get to it, I'll load up a couple pics.

Shock back on, road tested fine. Worked on a local buddy's 2016, installed two SpeedoHealers. You have to install two so the cruise will work, otherwise throws all kinds of codes...... got to test my OBD2 device on that rig, works good.

Checked the valves - all but 1 intake right in the middle of spec, and the one intake was a loose 0.006", so I buttoned her back up. Removing the throttle cables from the throttle tube is mandatory if you want to get the cam cover on without destroying the gasket. I pulled off most of the gasket trying to pry the cam cover around the throttle cables. So I used just a dab of red RTV on the cam cover in about 10 places and cleaned the gasket real well. I let the RTV sit for a couple hours while I did other things. That helped keep the gasket attached to the cover while I got it in place over the cylinder head.
Otherwise, no major surprises from my experiences with the gen 1 Or 2 valve clearance job.
The original spark plugs were spotless but the gap had widened to about 0.042" in 30,500 miles. Put in a new set of NGK plugs.
Flushed coolant, blew out air filter, cleaned and lubed the handles, brake lever, and other pivot points, but not the center stand (F-that, if it starts squeaking, let it squeak).
Changed the oil - the Mobil 1 with 6400 miles looked pretty good. I could have gone 7500 easily.
I need to change my fork oil, but will save that for another time.
Good day in my shop. Thanks to many of y'all for the help.

Me too, but I'm too chickensh#* to take this on by myself, and no one nearby has done it before either.

Honestly, changing the fork oil is MUCH easier than checking the valves. I'm not going to replace the seals or bushings. In fact, I'm changing the oil to specifically try to extend the life of the seals, although I'm not entirely sure it will do so. Regardless, I won't be disassembling the forks - I'll just remove the cap, remove the spring on the non-damper side, dump the old oil, use some kerosene to flush the crud out 3 or 4 times, use some clean oil to flush out the kerosene, and then fill each fork to the recommended level. While the forks are out, I'll take a seal mate and run it around each seal to clean out anything, and then just clean everything up real well on the outside, triple clamp, etc
It will take me about 1/2 to do that (I'm very slow).

Oh come on! Central Flatistan is not that far from Swampy Flatlandistan. Just point the FJR West. Hppants has a nice place (he has never invited ME to stay over) and you can drink his expensive beer while he works on your bike. Pop and I might even ride over if he is willing to feed us. He is a decent cook and I know for a fact he just put some fresh fish filets in his freezer.
You are welcome! Both of you.

Well - I don't mind. I'd love to have my Florida friend over for some good Louisiana hospitality. And my fellow Statesman is correct on three accounts (a rarity, indeed), I do happen to have some fresh fish in my freezer, I do know how to cook it, and I also happen to have excellent taste in expensive beer.
You are more than welcome over here, man. I'll help you with your bike, put you up in my guest bedroom, and feed you like royalty. Ask Josh about that.

Thanks Pants, for taking me up on RF's offer.
I've got a little over 55,000 miles on the forks, so I'm not sure oil is all that would be needed. I really don't know though.
A trip out "west", to meet my brothers from Louisiana, does sound inviting.

I was going to ride the BMW to work this morning. The longer I looked at it, the more I hated it. I could feel the bile rising in my throat at the thought of riding it again.
So I left the ugly bastard parked and rode my FJR. Anytime I forget how great my FJR really is all I have to do is use that BMW for a couple days.

I warshed it. Then I went to Cycle gear to see about some 5x0.8mm nylon screws for the two missing at the windscreen. No joy. Anyone have ideas on where to find those?
