I actually washed and cleaned up the bike. I think all the salt residue is gone.

Rode it to work today as I'm "essential". Should be ready for an oil and filter change later this week.

Rode it to the grocery store. Helmet was never removed. Way better than having to put a mask on. Rode a little long on the way back as I was testing my newly acquired dark tint redfish-wannabe vstream 20307. It’s too windy and it was too short a trip to be sure, but I think this dog may hunt for the hotter months.

I'd love to ride my "essential" ass to work... If it would get better than 3 degrees outside and stop with the flurries...

Made some custom straps to mount a tailbag on the pillion seat. Came out pretty awesome if I do say so myself!

Yeah!
So I get this shock from Spokane...looks kinda familiar.
No parts left over so that’s a good thing, right? Looked great inside, shaft seal was worn so after 21K it was time to freshen up.
Heading back your way tomorrow Fontanaman!

Um, G, I have the same Penske on my VFR, said to be low mileage, and it's, um, more than likely very due for......... um, never mind.

Talked to Eric at Penske today about my leaking rear shock. I am actually glad it started leaking. Turns out I had the broken clevis, too. He said it was a known issue. They used Yamaha original clevis from Yamaha, but because Yamaha designed them for the under-sprung Gen 2 shock and because of the way the bolt unevenly pinches.... well, you know. He's replacing it as warranty with a different style (Yamaha original R6 clevis). Doing the full service.
I am also having him put a different spring on it since I'm apparently more ... uh.. substantial than the original purchaser.
Shock should be back next week. Gotta say, I was impressed with the customer service there, even during the pandemic! Eric was on the phone with me for 25 min answering all my questions and explaining everything to me.
Dash shelf is in and am working on wiring.
And apparently the Wuhan Flu didn't speed up shipping from China! Waiting on parts from Aliexpress!

I also was one of the folks with a broken clevis. They were great about the whole fix. If you search the other board, there is a big deal over there on that. IIRC, there is a thread here also about the possible solutions because the piece was machineed slightly off. Glad you are getting taken care of.

Yea, I tried navigating those threads before and there's a ton of info but it's kind of scattered. I think next time I send mine to Traxxion I'll ask if they can replace the clevis. Or, I didn't know you could send them to Penske, so if Jim has some contact info, I might just use them for the next rebuild and get the fix.

The problem was the clevis was too wide for the stock bolt, so you either had to put a washer in as a spacer or shave some off the shoulder of the stock bolt.... the squeezing caused stress on the top part, and the welded shaft for the shock had no radius at all...... new one way better, yes they should be volunteering to replace it (as they have done).
Any good powersports suspension shop should be able to refresh a shock if you have one local.... only Penske can give you the clevis.

BTW, rode for about 50 miles today with the SU. I am telling ya, the heated jacket, SENA, and top case as a back rest are such good investments into us riding together.

Finally! Installed those little brackets under the mirrors to hold a set of lights (bought off someone on here). Installed two sets of lights, one set on the new brackets and the other set down on the forks. The bracket lights are led's but not obnoxious so I can run them all the time, the low set is a little more obnoxious than I would have liked.....so they will just be for lighting up the night sky when I'm out in the middle of nowhere. Anyway I think I need to install a fuse block.....I know I know....Pictures!....I'll work on that.
Was hoping to ride to work tomorrow but now they are calling for severe weather in the afternoon....Have to wait till Sunday....
