She actually "asked" me............You are going on a ride this weekend right?

Me : Why? You trying to get rid of me for the weekend?

Wife : You haven't been a ride in a while. And honestly, you are crabby. Go on a ride so you will be nice to all of us.

Me : DONE! See you Sunday night!

It's funny how eventually the wife sees the difference that riding therapy makes. Have a great weekend!

New set of PR4GTs on the horse. Plenty of meat on those tires. Fresh oil change and rear end oil change.

Bike is ready for YFO. And so is Pants.....

I hope the "new" Kaoko throttle lock is of some use to you on your trip. Enjoy your ride.

Pop used to use it to hold a small amount of tension on the throttle without really locking it. That made it easier to manage the stiff throttle return spring on his '07 and also "smoothed" his throttle inputs when riding rough roads. I never was exactly comfortable with that but he did that for many years and many miles.
Yep, the Kaoko works very well just as you describe. Also set it & kick back and chill in the flat and straight. Ken the HD Guy and I headed south from Charleston for the day. Started out at Fort Pulaski Nat'l Monument, then to Tybee Island Lighthouse then back to Savannah for lunch at Paula Dean's restaurant. Found out later it's nearly impossible to get in sometimes but we just walked in the door and got seated right away.

My baby is back!!! And so purty! I love to look at it when it's not on the bike because it's gorgeous and mostly gets hidden away on the bike...and dirty.

Image

Got the whole bike reassembled and will hopefully get some riding in this weekend. I didn't screw anything up with the PCV install because now that the tank is back on and hooked up I was able to fire it up. Looking forward to some windshield testing.

One minor boo boo. When dragging the left saddlebag across the shelf where it's been stored the last month I dragged both rubber bumpers off the bottom. So I did one more thing to my FJR and I gorilla glued them back on.

And then I connected up and performed a map backup and a firmware update.

Curious if you're aware of this thread..... if so, did you do anything to prevent the issue (with lower shock mount).

1. Nope, I wasn't aware. Looks like that thread was posted after my escape.
2. Holy crap that's a long thread.
3. I'll have to go doublecheck my installation just in case. Thanks!
4. I'll have to keep an eye on the shock and that thread for an ultimate final fix. Looks like Penske has some ideas.
5. I got such a good deal on this shock that even if I had to fork over the cash for the fixed part I'd still be way ahead. I'd be much more concerned if I had paid MSRP, that's for sure.
6. More than once in that thread I was reminded of why I escaped.

Thanks for the heads up.

If you find the clevis squeezes together noticeably upon tightening the bolt, find yourself a washer to slip in there and take up the extra space. Despite all the dialog on that thread, that's the easiest for now.

Some say the American Dream is owning a house. Or stocking it with 2.4 cars, boats, or even motorcycles. Some say its when you have a successful career. For SOMBO and I, the American dream is raising two kids that are good people and know right from wrong. People with a worldly view of things. People that think of others and are educated.

Today, our American dream comes true.
I know I'm a little late to this party, but congratulations Pants. That's a Hell of an achievement, for both you and him. Most times when kids graduate from college, that means the parents did good work. Be very proud of that!!

Yesterday the great windscreen test began. I had a little fun. Good to be back in the saddle again.

Two Wheeled Texans had a meet n greet n eat today. It was over on the other side of the metroplex so it'd be slab through the city, half of which is my route to work. But, since I hadn't really ridden the old girl in over a month it would do, plus, there was BBQ. Got to see some old friends, and old bikes. My bike is buried in there to the right, but right behind it, all pretty in red, is my old GSF400 Bandit. It was a garage find that I never had time or money to do anything with. My buddy who loves to tinker with bikes took it over and promptly dumped about $3200 into it over all and it's running sweet. I got to take it for a spin. Glad to see someone giving it some love and restoring it, as it's a neat fun little bike.

Nice Jasen. Very Nice.

That windshield brought more happiness and comfort than I could possibly explain. Pop told me many times, "That is the windshield Yamaha should have put on this bike at the factory." If you do decide to keep it I hope it serves you well.

A close friend of mine has a BMW R1200RT in that exact champagne color as the one parked next to you. He never rides it.

That bandit is sweet.

What bike is that to the left of the blue BMW? Those bags are huge.

I am betting that is a V-Strom 1000 with aftermarket, possibly Givi side cases.
