Yes! I expect to hear from you when you’re well enough to hit the slopes of North GA/TN/NC.

Rode it to work this morning then came home and pulled the dash panel required to verify that when it fell over in a rest area on our way home from SFO it did indeed break the front fairing stay. It did. Decided to try the JB Weld repair before I spend money on a replacement stay. Looks like it should work well enough break was clean and it was a light fall. My own fault as I didn't have the side stand down properly.

Whipping myself properly for my stupidity.

I hope to hear from him as soon as the pain meds kick in! :D

Are you testing it on Ray?

I suspect the old codger is bullet-proof, so.... I wouldn't bother even trying.

Let me know when you plan one. Social schedule is clear Jan/Feb.

(Physical therapists are your friend, although none seem like it in the moment.)

I'm counting on PTs for effectiveness, I have no wish to be friends with them. I will cuss at them if I wish...but they better ignore that and continue cranking on those joints if they know what's good for them...and me.

Rode it to have the rear tire swapped out. Road 5 wore great. Prob had another 1k in it, but I’m hitting a busy period and it’s the wet season. So off it went and a PR4GT replaced it.

After turning my rear brake fluid to steam last Sunday, got home from new rubber this morning and replaced all brake fluid and clutch fluid.

ETA- and disassembled, cleaned, and lubed the rear brake pivot. And mounted my dual heat troller properly for the first time ever.

Hopefully this will lead to all kinds of cool new stories. Follow the nurses and inevitable PT's orders. My daughter went through this not that long ago. Her only advice is, "Just realize the PT is trying to hurt you because that is their purpose in life. If you piss them off, they will double-down..."

The door to my physical therapist had this sign on it:

Physical Therapy

Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate
(Translation: Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.)

None the less, it is what must be done and done correctly to fully recover.

Hoping for a 100% recovery Wheaties. I understand that the hip harvested for bone often hurts worse than the item being repaired.

Yeah, getting out of bed and rotating the hip to do so is to be minimized. I have a bandage from my neck to my shoulder. Where they did something near my neck hurts like hell at times. So I just yell FYB!!! to help me feel better. Sometimes it helps.

Was having some difficulty shifting smoothly on the new to me 15 ES. Thought it was just due to me riding a Road King for a while. Well, adjusted the large free play out of the throttle and viola, smooth shifting. Road around North Georgia and really enjoyed the smoother shifting and great weather after a very wet SFO rally.

Installed new tires, wheel bearings, and lubed the drive shaft today

Got rid of this

Image

I replaced the front wheel bearings because they were very tight, not notchy, but sure didn't want to turn easily. I had quite the time getting them out as tightly pressed in as they were. Once out, I discovered that the bearings were just fine but had apparently been pressed in too tightly so that the spacer in between imposed some serious side load. I installed the new ones and made sure they weren't pushed in too far.

On the drive shaft lube service, I didn't like what I saw while in there and I posted about it here:

Took a little ride out through the country to a few towns over. Found a little cafe for lunch, meandered home. Probably put it up for the winter this week.

27 degrees this morning, rode it to work. Looks like my mon to wed riding to work plans may change with rain called for tuesday. Wednesday appears it for season so i'll wash and wax and hold for winter maintenance.

Garage heater final install thursday so planning on warming up the garage and completing swing arm pivots, drive shaft, plugs, etc. Over the next few months. At least the garage will be warm.

How did you make out chuck? Did the jb weld do the trick? When i had to remove my main stay to replace i wished it was a nicer break so jb weld would have been a possibilty. That was a pain to replace.
