First time out, Pop will likely find the bike drops into turns much easier than with the 180 tire, so a little caution if he hasn't had a 1990 before. No problem once you get used to it, it's actually my preference of tire size now.

Yesterday, I swapped out the Helibar brake line extension/OEM hose for the longer HEL line, bled the system, all good.
Thanks for the warning. I partially agree with you on this one and I actually was worried about this ahead of time. The PR4 drops quicker than the PR3s did, the PR4 has a much more rounded profile both front and rear. I did not notice as much difference with the 190/55 as I thought I would although it did stand it up on its nose a little bit.

First, I took Pop's bike to my house to do the work and left him with my '15. I was going to deliver the bike to him late last night but Pop asked me to keep it and evaluate it for a couple days and a few miles. Then I could give him any impressions or warnings about differences in handling.

At first I thought that Pop might be a little bit over cautious since his crash. But Then...

Is Pop worried that with my questionable mechanical skills I might not put the bike back together properly and it would be better if a wheel fell off with ME riding it?

Is Pop enjoying doing mischief and meanness with MY FJR?

Or is he just concerned about the differences in tire profile?

Any one I choose still means Pop outsmarted me. Again.

You just reminded me that my use of a 190 was also coincidental to using PR4's for the first time..... maybe it was just a PR4 thing in comparison to my previous tires...... the rear end goes up 1/4" or so with the bigger tire. No worries it's not alarming, just that first ride might be a little surprising. Easily figured out on the first ride.

Shoot, in Texas new tires turn MUCH better than old tires anyway.

Yes. They are called intersections.

Or

He's out smuggling in Hil Country.

Intersections, on-ramps and if you get out into the country, where the road does a 90 degree turn around the end of Farmer Bob's pasture to go by Farmer Bill's pasture.

If you try hard enough, a lane change is two turns.

That bus is so short it's just the driver and one passenger.

Well actually, that is not correct. I have to drive myself, there is just me. But I am so dumb I can never remember how to get there and then I have trouble finding my way home.

But it is a fact that the tires are turning the entire time the bus is moving.

I did learn that you don't want any extra height from the (Penske) shock when using the 190. I tried a little more height and it felt a lot less stable. On the other hand, with the 180 tire, a little extra height can help with turn-in. Surprising how just a little change can make a big difference in handling. I have been using the 190/55 for a few years now.

I hope the "new" Kaoko throttle lock is of some use to you on your trip. Enjoy your ride.

Pop used to use it to hold a small amount of tension on the throttle without really locking it. That made it easier to manage the stiff throttle return spring on his '07 and also "smoothed" his throttle inputs when riding rough roads. I never was exactly comfortable with that but he did that for many years and many miles.

Rode to work for the 4th day in a row. New personal best.

It is VERY hard to behave in city traffic on an FJR. I just wanna go full FJR gonzo on some people sometimes. Mebbe a good reason to take the cage.

Heh, heh, heh .... Don't know about yours, but my FJR is the perfect commuting vehicle. HOV lane, three-second passes if the HOV in front isn't going 75 mph, and I get preferential treatment by cops working congested intersections.
