Yeah, 276 on a Saturday is a wagon train unless you are there REALLY early. I'm sure you already know this, but if you take 178/215 next time to the BRP...you will have it more to yourself.

Rode it to a RTE today, it was good. Haven't ridden the FJR for a month or two, been toying with the Honda, and I needed to remind myself what if felt like.

I probably should have taken a left on east fork when I got into NC proper but I can't help stopping by the $$$ bicycle shop as I go into the forest. I'm still looking at ordering that rack to hang a bike off of the back of my bike.

129 wasn't the madhouse I was expecting and the Skyway was a nice as always. Afterwards we said our goodbyes and I headed east on 28 towards SC and home. All in all a beautiful day and great ride.

oh yea. Paid my EOM fees too! Probably should rent a room too if I don't want to commute every day from Stecoha. :-)

Rode back home from Crossville, TN after taking part in the inaugural Tennessee Twister Rally. It was a blast, first time I've participated in a rally. 629 miles for the weekend and I finished mid pack, not bad for my rookie rally if I do say so myself! LOL

^ I was following some of that TN Twister rally on FB and over at ADVRider.com website. Sounds like just being a finished was a big deal on that event. I saw the letters DNF more than I've ever seen in an event!

Going to try another rally?

Put on new grip buddies. Tried to reinstall the baffles on the yoshimurasan R77’s so as to be all stealthy for EOM. Couldn’t get them back in. Probably for the best anyway.

Road it 230 miles with wifey on board. Went along the east side of Lake Coeur d'Alene then along Idaho's White Pines Scenic drive and some Wheatfield twisty bits on the way home. 105k on the FJR and counting.

Day 1 is complete. Awsome weather on the BRP. Only closure i think is at rt220 near roanoke, which is my exit anyway for tonight. Down in civilization its 94 or higher. On the menu is a shower then dinner and a few beers

Edit, closure is north of 220, but day2 starts at 220. Works ok for me

Yah it was easy to get greedy and go for just one more bonus but between the car show in Waynesville, lots of congestion in Pigeon Forge, weather and the Tennessee football game....(one of my new favorite college teams after what they did for that little boy!) a bunch of people got caught not making it back in time. A veteran rallier Mark (his last name escapes me) got caught in the Tenn traffic. He said it was the one thing he did not check before the rally and something he normally always checks!

So to answer your question, heck yah it was a blast I will definitely do another, maybe a 36 hour one next time. The 10 hour is a blast but you got very little room for error!

Rode mine to work then as soon as I got home installed new rear brake pads since I noticed yesterday they were thinner than I'd thought. Coworker whose bike I've had since April following his rotator cuff surgery informed me this morning he would be need his bike back tonight as his wife's car was going in the shop and she would need his truck. Honestly I'm more than a little concerned about him getting back on as he's still having trouble. I offered him my truck but he insisted on getting his bike back so I returned it and brought my Buell home. Felt funny riding that after so long!

Just so I'm clear it's not that I don't want to return his bike, I'd hoped he'd be healed up enough to attend EOM. I'm just concerned at him getting back on one of these heavy, powerful machines and hurting himself from being out of practice. 2 other coworkers expressed the same concerns.

Flew to Tampa for the weekend so no riding. Flew to Atlanta for training, so no riding. Hopefully I'll get at least one ride on something with two wheels this weekend before I have to fly to Minnesota. Ugh. All the pictures of YFO and this travel for work are killing me that I couldn't make it there like I'd planned, but on to bigger and better things, right?

I did everything that you aren't supposed to do right before a trip! Finished light and Com system install and a few other doodads. It'll probably all go up in flames now on my way to EOM. Leaving work at lunch Wednesday.

I rode the filthy beast to work today. I had hit it with the pressure washer to knock most of the grasshoppers off already and of course there were bird feathers stuck behind the windshield.

Forecast was for 10% rain chance, those are pretty good odds and I ride in the rain a lot anyway so it was supposed to be a Good Day.

A freak very powerful thunderstorm hit my plant about midday, lots of wind, lots of rain. Then I got a visit from the safety guy.

A metal 55 gallon drum trashcan in the parking lot had rusted through at the bottom. The high wind finished it off and it went rolling and tumbling, and stopped against my right saddlebag. There it rolled back and forth scuffing away at the underside rear of the side case, eating away the paint. It also managed a nice long scratch above the reflector.

They are going to pay to fix it but dammit. If it's going to happen to someone, it will always happen to me.

The only bright spot was that if I had installed my awesome new Yoshimura mufflers there would have been damage to them. As it was it barely touched the stock muffler and did no damage to that.
