Rode home from visiting friends in Maryland. Damn it was hot!! Spent 3 hrs in 97*F+, decided I'd had enough and made a right into the mtns for some relief. It was 82-86 up yonder. Also met a new guy on an '08 out and about with his son on the BRP. By the time I came back down the temp had dropped to 91, not too bad.

Yep, rode it to work. Fuze block should be delivered today. Not sure i can attach it before this weekend trip. Need to find a good trigger point. Boy the wires are thin on the 2016.
I did find a three wire connector with a plug in it, left side under the side cover. Constant 12v and switched 12v. I didnt find the 4 pin plug used for the odb so im not sure what this three prong triangular plug is... anyone got an idea? The third prong is ground i believe.

Which tank bag? I picked up a nelson rigg cl2015 this year for my trip to florida and the ride home. Just bought the water bladder for it to try.

Ordered the Cortech Super 2.0 strap mount 18 liter after much research. Was going to get another magnetic mount but going to go back to a strap mount and see how I like it. I've had them before and while the magnetic mount certainly is convenient this new Cortech has some really nice features. May add a hydration bladder at some point.

The 4-pin OBD should be on top and back edge of the seat tray with a "holder" on the right rear corner... others have found them beside the seat adjuster thingie left side or under the left side cover when somebody at the dealer didn't put it back right. The three-way is a diagnostic connector for the dealer's computer (he hooks his laptop up to both I believe). Left side rear of the air cleaner you should be able to find a 4-way (tail light, signals) and two bullet connectors beside it (licence plate lamp). Either tail or licence lamp feed can be trigger, there is a ground wire in each.
Iff'n you're putting in a FuzeBlock brand, run two 12 ga. wires from the battery to the rear, one power, one ground. There's your ground (any ground terminal in the Fuzeblock after you hook it up).

Saturday: Got on the road at 5 am, riding to Florence, SC, to see Mom. (Happy Brirthday!)
Said goodbye at 2:30 pm and rode home. A little over 600 miles. Stopped under a bridge for 20 minutes to wait out the worst of a thunderstorm.

Yep did a little google work. Already have the supply wires run for a heated vest that was actually for something else so 12 guage is in. I'll find a 12v trigger. Not sure ill have it done for Friday so i have it directly supplied for now. Ill just pull the gps when not in use to keep the battery fresh. Thanks for the response.

Got the new tank bag installed, kind of wishing I'd just gone with the magnetic mount now. Rear strap is a PITA with how the seat needs to fit in at the fuel tank. Single rear mounting strap wants to occupy the same space. Installed it so it sits slightly off to one side. Strap at the front I wanted to run through that hole is the frame neck and that was more hassle than I expected as well. Now that it's on I like it and think it's a great choice for the FJR. Just ordered a hydration bladder which will be here Thursday. Will have it all set up for Friday departure.

Maintenance time for the FJR.
Two weekends ago, flush brakes and clutch plus lube the levers, rear brake and shifter pivots and a new set of 'tars. Last weekend, valve inspection, new plugs and coolant change. Everything in spec...good for another 26k!

My more recent thoughts on valve checks..... first one wait until say 40k-ish, then regardless of clearances, re-shim as necessary so all are 70% of max. I did that on the project bike and I actually noticed it ran way better than normal.... I'm about to do that on my own FJR which has 30k at the moment, and will prove that out.... end benefit, likely never need to do another valve check for a very long time, if ever (but remember to do a coolant change with long life coolant (not the 2 year stuff) and swap it out every 4-5 years). More time for cleaning and polishing, LOL.

When I lived in Toronto in the ‘80’s I used to go shooting on Saturdays with a buddy who lived there. I asked him if ever had any problems and he told me his secret..always carry 2 pistols in shoulder holsters and leave your jacket open so people can see that your serious. Go figure... He called it the gaza strip.

Rode it to work today then home to change oil and filter. Oil change a little early but Wellsboro this weekend and didn't want to have to do it Sunday when I get home. Weather forecast is looking brutally hot.
