I have to wonder if they might drop it for a year or two and then bring it back from the dead with a brand new engine (triple) and some more updated electronics. I'm sure they could expand one of their smaller triples to fit the FJR or repurpose one of their snowmobile engines.
To me one of the best things about the FJR is the engine. Perfect sport/touring engine. Good for sport and touring.
I have a Yamaha triple. Great engine, but you need to really keep it revved. More of a day rider to me.
I want to ride the Tracer just to see if the triple feels right in a S/T bike.

I agree that the FJR's engine is great. Unfortunately, the engine is what keeps it from being a viable option in places where emission standards have become strict. I don't know near enough about engines to understand why this one can't be "tweaked" in some fashion to make it comply...

As long as what they replace it with has 148HP and the same torque characteristics, has shaft drive, an adjustable windshield, and all the stuff the FJR has...I'm good!

Sorry, the Super Tenere is in the same boat as the FJR. Does not meet new European standards.

I’ve already met gravel. We have issues. I’m an asphalt road riding addict. I have occasionally taken a goat path with success, but I never learned on gravel…so no. I’m bad enough on pavement and X-rays would confirm that. 148HP at the crank or nothing.

The Boxer's shift cam was used to help meet EU emission requirements.
We can say what we will about BMW and I do but give them kudos for maintaining their product line.
