I'm jealous and I hate you. I commute 50 miles through DFW.
And you are ugly. Don't forget that part.
You want to get into an ugly contest? I'm not winning any beauty contests but I'm not winning this one either.

Having visited the LMCO facility on a number of occasions, I know what you mean.

I have a fast route and a scenic route. Both have great spots for passing CAGR’s.

The fast route is mostly tree covered, the scenic route goes through farm country.

The FJR makes both fun.

When I take the CAGE to work, I take the Thruway.

Got my new PR2 front tire mounted and balanced and new front brake pads installed. 10.6 k miles on the tires and after checking my maintenance spreadsheet about 62k miles on the brake pads.

New Continental Road Attack 3 were installed today.

I learned little things like the right side spacer needs to be put in place AFTER the ABS sensor is in position or you will never get the front wheel in place.ImageImageImageImageImage

Bought a '13 via friends. Watched said friend ride it across country, dodging hail, tornados, lightning bolts and sleepy eye as he went.

I rode it.

That's saying something since it's finally no longer balancing precariously on a stacked set of 2x4's. After being annoyed with the clacking when I hit the brakes I finally decided it was time to learn to do some steering head bearings. Between having to acquire parts, make tools, buy tools and everything else going on in my life, it's taken me a few weeks start to finish. Thankfully I have more bikes in the garage so I wasn't pressed for time, but as much as I love the little gixxus, I did miss the auto clutch and the storage of the FJR.

I did plenty of reading and watching of youtube videos. Yes, you can drive the races with the appropriate size socket, however the socket wants to slide around and not be completely center which is fine until the race is flush with the frame and then it wants to push on the frame and not the race, and flush is not fully seated. So after going through my entire USMC issued vocabulary a few times, I went in and ordered the Motion Pro 08-0550 Steering Head Bearing Race Driver Set. Sometimes you have to be stubborn and do things the hard way to really appreciate the right tool. On the third whack I heard it seat. I'd have been horribly disappointed if I'd just spent the $$$ outright and it was so easy. Instead, I was freaking thrilled.

Anyway, getting the whole front end aligned was a pain in the ass this afternoon but it's all good now. I went for a glorious 79F and sunny test ride (Sorry JWilly, you should have picked it up today, freaking beautiful) and then I came home and took my son for his first real extended ride outside of the neighborhood as we hit some beautiful local back country roads. It was a good day.

Oh yea, and I summerized the bike. Meaning I swapped the tall shield for the stock shield, I hung the winter riding gear in the closet...ok, not yet, it's on the bed, I'll put it up soon before my wife yells at me. I packed up the gerbing connectors and controllers in their tupperware container and put them on their shelves. It's almost time to start sweating through the mesh.

Changed the oil.

Even more of simple process with the lift....... as long as you have everything. I can’t explain how a jug of used oil got put back on the shelf. So when I pulled the cap off and there was no foil seal I knew something was up.

So it was off to get the Rotella. I love how AutoZone will take used oil even if you don’t buy the oil there. I always buy my filters there. After buying 2 Bosch filters, headed over to Big R for the oil. 2.5 Gal T6 for 48.99. It’s nice to have a former player working there and able to give a discount.

Back home to put the oil in and wipe her down. All ready for the summer. Speaking of that, gonna have to start a separate thread about that.

Yesterday there was snow that closed many western NH & Ma roads. Today is 42 with sprinkles, tomorrow is more snow. Rode it to work today anyway. The ride turned out better 'n expected when I whizzed past a Ma state trooper @ >90 mph; my radar detector said he was on the air yet didn't pull out after me. That ahem, temporary burst of speed put me in a long clear space in the rush hour traffic where I slowed down to pace the nominal traffic speed in my sweet spot.

Okay, maybe not.
At least you WOKE UP WITH a FJR this morning.

It's a very ancient saying
But a true and honest thought
That if you become a rider
By your FJRs you'll be taught
As a rider I've been learning
You'll forgive me if I boast
And I've now become an expert
On the subject I like most
Getting to know you
Getting to know you
Getting to know all about you
Getting to like you
Getting to hope you like me
Getting to know you
Putting it my way
But nicely
You are precisely
My cup of tea
Getting to know you
Getting to know all about you
Getting to like you
Getting to hope you like me
Getting to know you
Putting it my way
But nicely
You are precisely
My cup of tea
Getting to know you
Getting to feel free and easy
When I am with you
Getting to know what to say
Haven't you noticed
Suddenly I'm bright and breezy?
Because of all the beautiful and new
Things I'm learning about you
Day by day
Getting to know you
Getting to feel free and easy
When I am with you
Getting to know what to say
Haven't you noticed
Suddenly I'm bright and breezy?
Because of all the beautiful and new
Things I'm learning about you
Day by day

Rode it to work. Supposed to be on nights but got called in on days. Miserable right now.

Hit some sand/gravel in two low speed turns. The Road 5s with their larger and wider tread valleys seem to give the sand someplace to go, they seemed to remain stuck where the older PR versions would have lost traction and stepped out. I have seen this with my dual sport, the larger gaps between tread blocks seems to allow sand and pea gravel to be displaced and keep enough rubber on the road to keep traction. So far the Road 5 is making me happy.

Damn straight you need to apologize. Played that in a college pit orchestra for innumerable rehearsals and four performances, all within two months. Come to think of it, you should apologize to Mr Brenner, too ... except he's dead.

Great...Fellow engineer, fellow pit orchestra geek.
This is getting a bit uncomfortable.

Today, I looked over at my my FJR at 6:00 as I left the hacienda. I love my neighbors and without tips on, those 2Bros cans are...uummm, not suited for this "tight"nit neighborhood. So I took the cage...see Alan, I admitted it.
