Put some RTV in the Bigfoot recess, install, put bike on side stand so Bigfoot is at correct angle evermore, clean up squeeze-out. No more rattle, no more falling off. Loctite on screws.

Stared at it in the shop while I spend a few hours working on lawn equipment. Hot out in the sun.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Rode over the pass to meet up with some friends of friends to deliver their ammo for Front Sight class they are taking.
Explanation: we live about 20 minutes from the facility and we have a local supplier in town with excellent prices on ammo. We are happy to pick up ammo orders for out of towners and they can pick it up from us if staying in town or we can meet them over the mountain if staying in Vegas.
I had my second born on my wife's Majesty scooter so she could get some more highway time and my 7 year old son on the back of my FJR.
Do I get the prize for the most unusual post?

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I'd love to hear more about the Majesty scooter. I've kind of developed a thing for larger frame scooters.
Yesterday, I rode my FJR for the first time in a month. For the first time in the 10 years since my return to motorcycling, for reasons beyond my control, I went a full calendar month without riding my motorcycle. I must admit, the cobwebs were a smidge thicker than I expected and I quickly made it clear to my riding buddies that for this ride, I would be in the sweep position. When you are not feeling it, it helps to follow people who ride well and you trust. We left intending to only ride a couple of hours, but it ended up being 350 miles and nearly all day. We took it in BIG chunks - a couple of stints of over 100 miles. It was a truly GREAT ride.
If you're ever contemplating the risk v/s reward thing of riding, take a month off. If the joy doesn't return within the first 10 miles, then sell the bike. I'm convinced of this now. And BTW - my bike is most assuredly NOT for sale.
Stay thirsty, my friends....

I went to the Kittery ME Trading Post with a friend (on our bikes) who bought one hundred 8 GA black power blanks for his signaling cannon. We discussed the size of the crater he would make if he had an accident on the way home.

I rode it to work. Again. 66F/19C for the morning ride. Almost had to turn on the grip heaters!
I am really wanting to ride one of my motorcycles somewhere besides to work and back.

No, I was saving that for any Canuckians. And Yes, we have the "Marty Room" - loft in the shed...if you like sleeping with the creepy crawlies with the front row perch to watching little poodles getting snatched up by coyotes.raYzerman wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2019 11:42 amDo you mean the foam pad spread out in the tiny screened-in porch on the double-wide?wheatonFJR wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2019 8:52 amEOM in the fall with a side trip to Travelers Rest, SC??

Rode it to work. In keeping with several posts above, my FJR commute is mental therapy. Sometimes it's also the only time I get to spend outdoors.

Re: RE: Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
The Majesty is actually quite a machine. Very simple to work on and, as I found out, rather forgiving of the prior owner's lack of maintenance. You can fit an incredible amount of stuff under the seat, easily cruise at 80-90mph with throttle left all while getting about 55 mpg. Everyone loves to ride it and the fact that you don't have to shift is nice especially in traffic.Hppants wrote:I'd love to hear more about the Majesty scooter. Downsides? The main one is if you are used to passing vehicles with ease (such as I am on the FJR) then you will quickly miss being able to downshift with the Majesty. Other than that, not much. It handles the twisty bits on the road very well, too.
