Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Slowly ordering in parts for mine. A forum member sold me a replacement can which came in yesterday (thanks Cav!). Bike is still down for now, but it's not really an issue for me at this time. Heat is a bitch like Gixx says, but it doesn't matter because I can't ride anyway until the Dr. clears my shoulder. Hoping to be back on line in time for Hooterville. Missing the bike for sure, but sure not missing the heat.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Went for another ride with the wife. Today was about 160 miles of mostly backroads and two lane. Lots of the roads I have never been on. I like to keep the speeds down and the traffic light. We wound up in West Lafayette Indiana and ate at 9 Irish Brothers pub. We split fried pickles and an order of fish and chips. Decent food for sure.
At one point during lunch she asked me “Do you always ride that slow?”
“Just with you on the back.”
I fixed that mis-perception on exactly one highway entrance ramp after lunch. Just once. Hehe.
My right side ribs are a little sore.

I love stopping somewhere where people are in the parking lot when my wife pulls her helmet off and shakes her hair out. Today there was more than a few Harley riders there. Look a woman can wear a helmet.
Anyway, somewhere on the way back in a really flat and straight road, I set the cruise and selfied the above pic.
My FJR day was pretty damn good.

I often have found myself when I was not looking, nor did that discovery take place where I thought it would!

I took my fiance up to Milwaukee last month. I hit a cover leaf on ramp with her on the back like how I normally would by myself. I heard her utter thru comms, "Scaryyyyy..." I kept it kosher the rest of the day. Soon, she'll get used to the leaning and we'll have fun on M22 in July.

Mounted a set of Dunlop RS3's today. Fontanaman 2, Dunlop RS3 0.
The hardest part was getting the rear rim to lock onto the Nomar Dog Block due to tire width interference. Once I got the rim into the Dog Block the dismount and mount when very well. The front tire was a piece of cake. The RS3's I removed had 9734 miles. The is the most I have got out of any tire on the FJR.
There is a $75 rebate on the RS3 at Ridersdomain.com. I will take advantage of this. A set of good tires for $225 is a good deal.

Fitted the Givi SR357 rake and a set front and back MC Enterprise tip over bars - police version to the FJR then went for a leisurely 400km round trip for lunch.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Took a 100 mile ride this morning to test out my healing back. Was fine during the ride, but it did stiffen up when I got home. 2 vitamin I’s and I was feeling better.
First miles in the bike in 5 weeks. Felt good to ride. I almost didn’t check my tire pressure as they are getting swapped anyway next week for CFR. My rear had a small nail in it and was flat. 10 minutes and I was on my way with it plugged.

Marie and I rode our bikes both Saturday and Sunday, first time since I came back from my trip. 18" of rain last month, so we were excited to ride again. Sadly, it's Africa hot again here in Flatistan, but coming home and jumping into the pool fixes that real quick.

I cut the cigarette lighter plug off my tire pump and soldered/heat shrinked on a battery tender plug so I can run the pump off the battery..

Works well to do that before the ride. I remember when I was learning to ride in the heat, stopping by the apartment swimming pool and standing under the shower in full gear for 30 seconds before jumping on the bike. Felt darn good.LKLD wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 4:50 pm Marie and I rode our bikes both Saturday and Sunday, first time since I came back from my trip. 18" of rain last month, so we were excited to ride again. Discovered tha the hardcases are not symmetrical. (I think.) Kelly’s helmet easily fits in the starboard hardcase, but there was no way I could fit it in the port hardcase.
Eh?

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Yesterday I put a new Pirelli Angel GT “A” spec tire on, and cleaned and lubed the driveshaft splines while I was at it..5300km on the bike, no grease visible on the splines when I disassembled it.
The service manual came in very useful - the engagement of the brake caliper in the ABS sensor mounting plate took me a second try.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
The splines move VERY slightly, lengthwise, agreed, they should have grease on them, if only for rust prevention which is more likely to cause wear than the movement itself. This whole "OMFG they have no grease!" is internet bullshit. Good job on loob'ing them. Now you can sleep peacefully until the end of your days knowing they are protected from rust, now, forget them.CollingsBob wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 10:25 am Yesterday I put a new Pirelli Angel GT “A” spec tire on, and cleaned and lubed the driveshaft splines while I was at it..5300km on the bike, no grease visible on the splines when I disassembled it.
Now, about the nitrogen in your tires....

Packed it. Won't have time to do it tonight. Departing for Wellsboro PA after work tomorrow. Near there? No plans? Come on out and play this weekend.

Fitted dual Fiamm “Freeway Blasters”, then went for a ride, discovered that my newly refreshed seat is only good for a couple of hours.Maybe time to replace the sheepskin, but a bit disappointed that the shape changes and inclusion of gel into the seat didnt result in a significant improvement..

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Working from home today I didn't think I'd ride it.
Then I get an urgent text from my wife, she left her lunch at home. She works at a daycare 5 miles away down country roads and the temperatures are still nice this early. Thus, I exemplified the kind of selflessness and self sacrifice that is needed to keep a marriage working, and sucked it up and rode over to deliver her lunch to her. That's the kind of husband I am.
