Flushed the brake fluid and put in fresh stuff in preparation for SEO. Jumping the connectors to actuate the abs unit was fairly easy. Ran out of fresh DOT 4 so I couldn't do the clutch. That'll be tomorrow. Bought a little mighty vac for this and I have to admit, it makes bleeding so much easier.
Now that I think of it, probably should've recorded/document it for our new tech section. Next time.
Mojolever and mojoblocks arrive tomorrow. I might record myself mounting new fresh tires...but it may just end up being an hour long video of an little angry Asian guy cursing hell.

Ratting fratting frigging rigging weather. I was going to ride my FJR to Spokane on Tuesday and store it until we move there next week. But noooooooooo, the snow level is down below Snoqualmie Pass and it is raining cats and dogs.
Yea, it must suck to live someplace so beautiful.
It really sucks here if you are keep your bike as clean as the man known as --G.
When it is nice it is really nice but this spring it has sprung a leak - winter just won't give up.

Pulled the dash panels so as to apply JB Weld soon where the Hungry Mother bit me awhile ago.

What is this "Keep your bike clean" thing? I do not know what this is. Is this where you act all silly and have to wash your bike in the middle of a trip? That's just obsessive. No reason to wash it more than once a year.

Some people are gifted with the "keep your bike clean" thing. I am finding that I am not as talented in that as others.

While I'm on riding restriction due to recovery from left ankle surgery, I decided it would be a good time to pull my fuel injectors for a cleaning. My 07 has 130,000 miles on it and isn't running as smooth as it used to. It's got new plugs and I verified good plug wires connections using my old timing light (you can visually see missing by watching the strobe pulsing). I've heard freshly cleaned injectors make a difference and the cost will be reasonable at
http://www.mrinjector.us/ . Complete service for $17.50 each plus $7.50 return shipping. I'll report back how it worked when I hopefully get clearance to ride again soon.

Well, thanks to BkerChuck I had to clean up the front end of the bike today. Ugh, I don't think it's been cleaned since before SFO.
See, BkerChuck is a nice guy, and he saw me lamenting letting my stock windshield go away and drop shipped me one he had in his garage for no charge. Oh, initially he got me to agree to paying shipping and then he shipped it and said don't worry about it. Watch out for that guy, he'll take the free from you when you aren't looking.
But, I couldn't put the old windshield up in it's current dirty bug ridden condition so I had to clean it. Well, I oversprayed the cleaner and had to wipe that up and damnit, I made a clean spot. Now, I'm not OCD as in I have to wash my bike every two days in a trip and then write about it in my ride report, but I am OCD enough that the clean spot was bothering me enough to clean around it. Don't get your panties in a bunch, I didn't clean the whole bike, that'd be crazy talk, but the whole front end got debugged and cleaned up a bit.
Side note: After several years of using this V-Stream barn door, I'd forgotten how tiny the stock shield is. Gonna be good for the Southern weather we have around here right now. Woohoo.
Thanks BkerChuck!!!

Bummer. Try heating up the tire with a space heater. Lots of lubricant in the right places helps as does technique.

Tried to put on a new rear tire. Taking the old tire off and installing the metal t-valve was easy enough. Mounting the new tire however...I admit defeat for tonight. Will try again tomorrow.
Geeze, I thought you were supposed to use up a tire before changing it! That one still has a way to go.
Yes, heating up the tire makes a BIG difference. Lots of lube helps but try to keep the moisture on the outside of the tire.
Those Dunlop RS III's are a flaming bitch to get on the rim!
Nice tires, although I find them a bit noisy. Very compliant and smooth ride. Stick well too!
(How many miles did you get out of them?)

This set has 6k miles on them. Maybe it can go another 2k. I'm swapping them out in preparation for SEO cause I'm not sure if they'll last for the entire trip.

Fixed.
By the way, look online for Nomar tire videos, keep the beads in the "v", lube the V, warm up the tires with a heat lamp, place lube in spots shown on the NoMar vids, and save yourself grief and don't buy stiffwalled tires (like GTs), etc until you're good with the softer sidewalls and have the technique down, have an FJR friend come over and help you if you've already got a stiffwalled tire.

I use three woodworking clamps to squish it so it will go down in the 'v' of the wheel... yep, lube the 'v'. Set them stiff wallers out in the sun, a heat lamp just doesn't quite do it.......

Worked for me this winter - actually 3 heat lamps.

I did lube the "v" with plenty of soap and water. It probably still wasn't wet enough... Will try clamping method and more profanity tonight.

Always make sure you apply a plentiful amount of profanity. You cannot use too much, but you can absolutely use too little.
I have to say, as much as I hate changing tires in the summer in Texas, letting them sit in that blazing hot sun sure does make them go on easier than doing a tire change in the winter.
