Today I changed engine oil & filter and the rear diff oil. I was pleased to discover that Suzuki Vstrom crush washers are a good fit.

Oh man, now you did it. It's gonna start sounding like a vstrom now. Best take it off and start over before differential metal corrosion starts.

Started the teardown for the mirror stay...... holy crap, what a job. So, reconsidering things I found more than one source of info, so we can link to those in case a site goes down... I can't do a better job of it than they did....... anyway.... later.

Left out Friday night after work to finally get started on this year's Tour of Honor. Did about a hundred miles stopping at 2 Maryland memorial for pics and getting a pressed penny at Bass Pro Shops in Hanover, MD for the IBA Pressed Penny Challenge. Up early Saturday morning and headed into Washington, DC for the 4 memorials located in town. 3 went smoothly enough but the final one Capitol Police had streets blocked off and no traffic was being allowed into a certain part of the city. Had to park the bike and walk about a quarter mile or more to get my picture. Left DC and shot into VA for another pressed penny and one VA memorial. Got home in time for g/f to take pics for her daughter for prom. 400 plus miles in under 24 hours with 7 TOH memorials and 3 penny locations. Got up this morning and went for a quick ride before breakfast.

392 days now without fail.

Is Wayne able to host the images? I've honestly never looked because I use my own host, but wasn't sure.

Nope. Asked and answered in another thread today.

Ray - please take pictures and share.

I've done the Gen 1 "Stay R-n-R" more than twice, but not the Gen 3 yet. I fear that is inevitable, though...

Having done this, I can say it's not for the faint of heart. I've not seen the Gen 1 or 2's, but the Gen 3's really pack it in there. If you have large hands...forget it! Seriously.

300 miles of great riding today. I found what my buddy and I think may be the best 20 miles of pavement in Louisiana. The problem is - it doesn't go anywhere. Dead ends at gravel. GPS says we'd have to ride 5.5 miles of gravel one way, or about 10 miles of gravel another. So we turned around and backtracked about half of the 20 miles. Well worth it.

Weather was windy but beautiful. Even had a decent BLT for lunch. No complaints - none what so ever.

Ratting fratting frigging rigging weather. I was going to ride my FJR to Spokane on Tuesday and store it until we move there next week. But noooooooooo, the snow level is down below Snoqualmie Pass and it is raining cats and dogs.

.Updated

...HEAVY RAINFALL OVER THE LAST FEW DAYS HAS LED TO AN
INCREASED THREAT OF LANDSLIDES IN WESTERN WASHINGTON...

Rainfall of up to 2 to 5 inches over the lowlands and foothills of
western Washington in the past several days has once again increased
soil moisture to high levels. Light to moderate showers are expected
today that could add up to only a half an inch to an inch in some
places. But with these wet soils that could be enough to trigger a
landslide or two. This elevated threat will persist through Tuesday,
before slowly decreasing over the following few days.

Several landslides have already been reported or suspected in
various locations in western Washington in the last day or two,
including on the Burke-Gilman trail in King County, and this morning
on the railroad tracks just south of Everett.

Areas above about 3000 feet in elevation will see mostly snow and
not be affected.

For more information about current conditions, visit
www.weather.gov/seattle, select Hydrology, and then scroll down
for the links to the landslide information pages.

To report a landslide, contact your local emergency management.

My bike is in at the dealer for valve check. We are currently getting crapped on with snow, ice pellets, freezing rain...

The dealer just called me and asked me if its okay they not attempt to move my bike from the storage building (they use it to queue up service jobs) to the service area. "Theirs a very good chance of it falling over when they move it".

Oddly enough, I wasn't planning on riding it anywhere today, so, ya, you don't have to get it done today LOL.

Given I did my own valve adjustment with help of another FJR guy, we f'ed up and got the camshaft outta time, ordered a new cam chain tensioner, so the project took three weeks. Mox Nix it was in February in Seattle. I also learned a lot. I know how to remove the camshaft and get the whole darn thing back in time again. With 87k the bike runs great.

Worked on replacing the mirror stay today..... what a job. Slow and methodical is what it takes, and it is a full day's work for sure. New one is in, will finish up tomorrow. I would not recommend taking apart and leaving it apart.... you'll ferget where chit goes.

I just washed mine. Had to fill the soap bucket with warm water from the utility sink because it was only 71 degrees outside and I can't stand the Cold.
