Don't worry about that Harald...last time Hud saw the Sheriff, the sheriff had him dressed in an orange jumpsuit and was fitting him for living quarters.

LOL  Got a loaner FJR for me?

Regrettably, it's been 1989 since I RODE in Cobb county. I've made many trips back to visit the folks at their new home in Cumming, but I don't have enough vacation time to be able to RIDE out and back from Washington state. Plus, I work for an airline so flying is pretty cheap. ;)

Last visit about 4 years ago was bitter sweet because I sold their home due to their Alzheimer's making it unsafe for them to live alone. There comes a time when the kids have to become the adults to their parents. They have since passed, so other than some old friends there's nothing tying me to my old home. :(

Are you saying that HUD rides like a Hooligan and has attracted the attention of the Po Po? :D

I always obey all traffic laws while riding, so I don't think I can ride with HUD. Oh wait, it's not April Fools anymore? Scratch that thought. We would probably get along just fine. :P

You say that like riding is the only time Hud would have issues with the Po Po.

Really? I thought it was a Spanish word that meant "Ugly". Obviously I didn't take Spanish in school so I may have been wrong.

Back on Topic:

I rode it to work this morning and it was a frigid 51F. Grip heaters on medium, windshield up about an inch. Thankfully, it was a balmy 84 for my ride home and some errand running. I almost got warm sitting in traffic when the cooling fans kicked on.

Off topic, why is it that the slowest bikes with the worst sounding exhaust are the ones that are constantly revving their motors in traffic? Few things sound worse to me than a damned Honda Davidson/Harley Wannabe Shadow Vtwin with loud pipes. They can make them loud but they cannot make them sound good. Sorry. Rant over.

Your Spanish is indeed terrible. Ugly in Spanish is pronounced And-rew.

Even the real HD sounds terrible being revved like that.

And the Honda Davidson is likely faster.

Rode it to work today for the first time in 2018. Wet roads this morning, should be perfect going home. Then the weather is supposed to go into the shitter again for another 7-8 days.

I saw a streak going into someone's front yard and slowed down to see what it was. A very big red tail hawk was using its feet to do a hat dance on a gray squirrel, then gave it a couple of shots with the beak. The hawk then grasped the squirrel like an osprey does a fish, nose forward, tail flapping and trailing behind and tried to take off. The hawk finally achieved takeoff and flew down my lane in the road in front of me, not able to make more than a couple of feet off the road and very slow. After quite a distance the road sloped down sharply and this gave the hawk enough assistance to finally turn and leave the road. Breakfast was on.

A local farm had a flock of turkeys industriously rooting out the newly planted seeds in the farmer's field. I could hear the first spring peepers. The air smelled fresh -- away from the farms where it definitely was not fresh. The joys of riding IN nature instead of THROUGH it encased in a car. Now I'm thinking of naming my FJR SeeMore, (better than SmellMore or HearMore...).

FINALLY a decently warm morning ride. It was 68F at 3:40am and I could actually leave the grip heaters off.

Rode to PD13. Maybe a couple thousand there mid afternoon. The usual assortment of straight line chrome turtle riders were in attendance.

I changed the clock to the correct time and for the first time I navigated through the menus with my glasses on so I could actually see the screen.
Then I went for a short ride, temps shifting between 0c and 1c..grip heaters turned up to 11.

Did a clutch soak, not because it needed it, but to write a tech procedure. Replacing Gen3 mirror stay might be the next one.
