On the non-ABS bikes, that was the quickest and best way to be sure for the fronts. I think it was on an FJRTech article as well, maybe.

I should have done this to my old gixxer. Wouldn't have gotten all the hell from the previous owner when he bought it back from me. I didn't even think that it was possible to put it back on backwards, so used to changing tires on the Gen II FJR where it only goes on one way.

I had a tire for my FZ1 that was a royal pain to get to seat. Mounted it, tried every trick on the internet except the explosive jeep tire method. Took it off and remounted my old tire thinking I'd done something to the rim. Seated right away. Put the new tire back on and struggled for a while before taking it to the Suzuki shop around the corner. I asked them to seat my tire to which they scoffed and headed off to do it. Ended up taking three guys with four air hoses, one blasting in the valve while the others blasted into the sides all with all of them pushing on the tire. I was happy to see it not slide right into place for them.

I HAVE A f@$king NOMAR. A really nice one, as a matter of fact. The MC gods just hate me this week for some reason. It's been one circus after another.

1st: I bought Tugger straps for my KTM. My buddy has some and they're awesome. I went to install them, and one of my rear bolts was loose. The bolt seemed tight, but the plastic was loose. I figured the threads were dirty or something and just needed cleaned up. So I removed the bolt, chased the threads and installed the strap. I didn't like it that way, so I took it off and switched it around. I did that like 3 times, and that bolt never tightened correctly. So I did what any ham-fisted dumbass does, I increased my leverage to get just a little more turn and SNAP. Broke the bolt. So I took the back of the bike apart and realized my rear subframe was broken. Turns out Patch and his GF dropped that KTM off a trailer in 2013 and bent the rear sub-frame. When he tried to straighten it, it broke, because it's made of extruded T75 shit-bar. The piece broke again, right behind the weld, and that welder didn't do a good job.

I spent the next two days SCOURING the internet for a used, straight rear sub-frame. I found one for every KTM ever made, except the one I need. I found bent ones, and new ones that ranged anywhere from $221 to $385, but no used, straight ones anywhere. So, I called the guy that welded Tony's bike and he fixed it up yesterday. In the meantime, I went about drilling that bolt out of that screw mount. I tried to chase the threads and that fucker just won't cooperate. I can't find those parts in a parts list because I think they come as part of the frame and weren't meant to pop out. So, now, I'm gonna jury rig it, and it'll be better than new. As soon as I'm done here, I'll begin that process and have my KTM back together tomorrow morning. Hopefully.

2: On Thursday, I bought my girls their first dirt bike. A sweet 2003 Yamaha TTR125TL. It has the front disk brake and electric start. It was $800 and runs great.

I picked it up and the lady couldn't find the title. While she was looking for that. I pulled the single key out and put it in my pocket so it wouldnt get lost. After 20 minutes, we said f@$k it, she'd look some more and just mail the title to me, or I'd file for a lost one. I got 10 minutes away and she called that she found the title. GREAT!! I turned around to go get it. Picked up the title and headed home. Got home, unloaded the bike, and...WHERE THE f@$k IS THE KEY?!?!?!?!?! I tore my truck apart looking for it, and not finding it, feared the worst but called the lady. 20 minutes later, she found it in her driveway near her front door. Right where I pulled my truck keys out of my pocket when I was leaving, after picking up the title. So, BACK to Rio Rancho, 30 minutes each way, to get the key. I finally got home gave the bike to the kids, and then got dressed and went to work.

3: Finally, the GenI tire clusterfuck. I have the Nomar lube, and put a lot of it in the trough, to get the tire to slip. We bounced the tire, we used a ratchet strap on the tire, we tried kneeling on it as we added air to it. It wouldn't budge. What's weird is the part stuck in the trough would roll around. The tire wouldn't move, but as one part popped out, another fell in. I have NEVER seen that!! I'm wondering if that tire wasn't shaped funny from being wrapped in plastic, and just wanted to keep that shape. I didn't unwrap it, so I don't know, but that's all I can come up with. Hell, even my appliance guy tried to help, and my compressor pushes 125lbs of air, and still, no joy.

My BIL does not have angled valve stems on his wheels, which made it impossible to just hook up the hose without the air-chuck, so maybe that was part of it. However, Bobby J's had to use that Cheetah to force enough air in and around it to get it to seat. That tire beat me, no two ways about it. That's never happened before.

So, I still have a really nice NoMar someone can have if they want it. It has the rotating top bar and the bead breaker bar attached as well as the trailer hitch attachment. That's how I use it, because I don't have room to mount it in my garage, but I do have the floor bolts in a bag, just waiting to be used. I bought it from SGoat. Remember him from the other Forum? Really nice guy. NoMar sells the Cycle Hill and more expensive NoMar classic versions, along with some others. He bought the Cycle Hill, but with the upgrades he brought it up to the same set up as the NoMar Classic.

Let's see what I can break today!

Well, I don't think it was you. I just think that that tire must have a pretty damn stiff sidewall. I am barely proficient at putting on tires, but I can do it. I am happy riding with a rear tire that has a softer sidewall...and if it is easy to mount, so much the better. I'm not good enough to know that PR2s suck, or why people don't use them anymore...but I'm happy with how they ride and wear...and if they are easy to mount...ALL the better.

AND, NEVER underestimate my or my brother's ability to cluster f@$k something up. When we got together with our dad, it was a three ring circus. We still laugh about it. Our plan never seems to really work, but we always meet our end goal. Haha...We want stuff to be right, so when trying to make it better than ever, we make things harder than they need to be.

That's probably it right there, though I don't know how you couldn't use one of those rubber tipped air guns. I've done it many times on the FJR before I got the angled valve stems. Just bend the stem a little, take out the core, and press the gun to the stem and let it rip. Has he got some special stems on there or something different with the Gen 1?

The bendy part is the valve stem. You don't have one of these cheap crappy things with your compressor? If so I'd pick one up, quite useful. Seating beads, blowing dust, airing up pool toys, airing up RFH's blow up dolls when he visits, etc etc.

Zilla, you are one fucked up dude! I have never mounted a tire backwards or put the spacers in the wrong side or got a front or a rear all nice and buttoned up and had to take it off again because I forgot to balance it, or any of that shit that happens, nor have I put fork seals in backwards on 2 red ES's in the same day. Never! Nope, not me. T-30's do piss me off though.
