Tuesday May 27, 2025 Boucetouche NB to Antigonish, NS via PEI 245 miles.

The weax was fabuylous when we rolled out this morning. No wind, No cold, no heated gear, not much traffic, a perfect morning for a leisurely coastal ride.

GSA riders Gotta Stand Always

Crossing on to Prince Edward Island (PEI) was a treat, the bridge is free going on to the island.
Image

Image

PEI is very agricultural - farms everywhere
Image
Red sandy soil apparently grows lots of crops including potatoes
Image

Image
Some farmers appear to be doing pretty well for themselves!

We stopped in Charlottetown for a long awaited "Lobster Roll"
Image

They were pretty good and quite filling with "double meat", also not cheap!
Image

From Charlottetown we rode local roads to the PEI Ferry at Woods Island and boarded the "Confederation" for a $50CDN - 70 minute ride to Nova Scotia.
Image

Image

Three provinces in one day! NB, PEI, and NS.

As we exited the ferry there was a guy on an FJR taking pictures.

Image

Image

Scott had ridden down to meet us and to take us on a little ride around Cape St George. After gassing up he led us on a spirited ride on great roads at FJR nominal speeds through some beautiful countryside.

At Cape George we paused

Tomorrows "plan" is to do the Cabot Trail, hit North Cape, and return here for the evening.

Stay tuned.....

I just came across this RR and I'm really enjoying it!

And, just like that, I'm suddenly craving a lobster roll...

Wednesday 28 May 2025 - Day 16 - Antigonish to Antigonish via the Cabot Trail - 355 miles - seven hours of riding and two off the bikes

Image

Image
Our abode

We were on the road at 0800 - another beautiful day - heading East on NS 104 to save a little time
Image

We crossed the causeway and headed up NS 105 towards the
Image

We turned off 105 onto "The Cabot Trail" NS 30 and the fun began.
We had a Gold Wing pulling a trailer in front of us and a semi in front of him, we passed them both and then were passed by a "Rider" on a HD Low Rider ST, the man could wheel that bike. He led us on a merry chase all the way to "Duncan's Beach" where he turned off and we stopped for construction and a pilot car through one of the best sections of turns and switchbacks :( ! We were the last of a long line that got through the construction so we stopped at Ingonish Beach for an early lunch.

The Lobster Tacos were excellent!

North Cape at last.

Yesterday when Scott was helping Scott H plan he referred to what Scott H heard as "Shitty Camp" we finally figured it out today.

Image
Cheticamp is an actual place not just an adjective in Scott's vocabulary.

Heading down the West side reminded all three of uis of the Nortyhern California Coast

Image

We are now discussing "where next" I think we will head towards Mt Washington in New Hampshire, routing ourselves via as many Butler Red, Yellow, and Gold roads as possible Scott H is studying the maps now!

Stay tuned....

I recognize that helmet. You are correct Tyler, it’s a great spot to simply sit back and take it all in. Fortunately it’s only a 45 minute cruise for me.

Thursday, 29 May 2025 - Day 17
Antigonish - Estados Unidos!
A little deviation from our original plan, JREW has an infected finger and it isn't getting any better. We are headed to Medicare land to get it looked at. Calais or Bangor ME tonight.
Further details later.

John - if you don't already, follow them on their FB page. They post regular updates. They also post road status updates on their website: https://mt-washington.com/ As of today, it looks like the road is open to the summit, but they still get snow up there this time of year.

And I hope JREW gets his finger fixed up. That doesn't sound pleasant at all.

ETA: here is their website showing current summit weather conditions at the Mt. Washington Observatory: https://mountwashington.org/weather/cur ... onditions/

I wonder how health insurance works for Americans in Canada. Similar to Canadians in the u.s... out of country medical?

Basically yes, you generally need out of country travel medical coverage. John has/had that but wanted to get back into the USA where everything is covered under his Medicare and supplemental insurance. We are at the Bangor ME ER now, waiting.

Poke it with a flamed needle or something sharp and draw the pus out. Then rub dirt on it.

The saga continues -
Our 455 mile day looked much like this -

Almost all 455 miles were slab until we got into Maine then two lane from Calais to Bangor and a visit to the St Josephs ER for JREW.

Just look at the middle finger on his right hand
ImageThe admitting nurse deemed him a "Fall Risk" because of his age, over 70.

We are off to a late supper.
WEAX does not look good for Mt Washington this weekend, or for anything else. We will discuss options at supper.
