Mounted a new Michelin PR 4 GT today. Tomorrow I will do some cleaning up and lube the splines then reassembly everything.

I cleaned and waxed the drive shaft housing as well as the swing arm. Wax might keep tar from sticking a bit. Cleaned the splines and re-greased. It all went well until I measure the tire's air pressure and found it dropped a bit overnight. I checked the valve stem for tightness and inflated it to 42 psi. Being optimistic I decided to reinstall the tire and check the tire pressure tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Somewhere on the forum I read putting a half inch piece of plywood beneath the center stand helps with tire removal. It worked great as it a bit more clearance pulling the tire out is helpful.

This morning I checked the tire pressure and it was down about one pound from yesterday. TirePressure.org has a calculator for pressure drop using temperature difference. The drops I was seeing was very close to what the calculator estimated.

I am optimistic this is a non problem. Maybe tomorrow I can get out for a ride. Maybe find a Starbucks, might be a short ride!

Tire pressure and tread depth are both highly overrated. ;)

Present value = number of revolutions of rear tire??? WTF?? How about 1 psi change for each 10° F temp change +/-. Good rule of 👍

I got photo voltaics (solar panels) equal n times radians * Time. With n being the intensity.

In a weird way, this is actually in the ball park.

Madmudder taught me something. I have about a 1" high or so lip at the entrance to my garage. I put the FJR on the center stand on top of that lip and it lets the tire hang over an inch higher for easy tire changing. That Madmudder is OK no matter what his friends tell you.

Trust me, few will be able to put the FJR on centerstand with more than a 3/4" board under the centerstand. The step in my back patio is 3-1/2", a 2x4 when the concrete was poured. I have a set of ramps made of (2) 2x8s on top of each other which was essential to holding the rear wheel on same level as the front and centerstand to get the bike up. Then the ramp was removed.

So if you put a board under the centerstand it is probably a good idea to put others under at least one wheel or both.

This is an older picture of a friend's GL1800 in my driveway using the 2x8 ramps to remove it's wheels. Had one under the front, one under the rear, a 3rd crossways under the centerstand. Four ramps were used. Was rather pleased with myself how the four could be laid out to easily roll the motorcycle on to. I think one ramp was used upside down half overlapping another for the front.
