Thanks, Joe. I’m keeping my eyes open to all of the forecasts from mid-Georgia northward. I’m hoping I-75N will be good to middle Tennessee, but will be checking the status as we travel.

After participating in a valve check and reshim at Bob's tech day, and on my own lubing all the lower linkage, except upper connection, I would be interested in knowing what the cost of that service runs. I assume you are using Freedom Powersports in Canton? I seem to be getting increasingly lazy these days, and more willing to pay for services. Shame on me!

I use MIH Powersports. I like to do coolant, brake pads, clutch/brake flush, battery, and oil changes on my own. I go back and forth on tires.

Valve check typically runs between 6 and $700. Coolant will add a little. Plugs will add a little. And I’ve never paid to have a battery installed. So that will add a little.

I also pay to have all the dogbone/centerstand bolts removed, inspected, lubed, and replaced, once per bike. They sawzall the problematic bolt and replace with a new one inserted from the other side. I lubricate the underside bolts periodically, but I only have them removed and replaced once- after a year or two of year-round riding.

YMMV. Ride safe.

It was almost 50 yesterday so that cleared a lot. Was cautious this morning in case of black ice.

Nice ride to lunch today. Started out cool around 55 but warmed up to the lower 60s. Supposed to be in the low 80s early next week. That's more like it!

Weather guessers claim snow next four days so... nice two-hour ride this afternoon! Highest temp achieved was 42F, 39F in a couple low spots where the sun don't shine this time of year. Still trying to wear out the SFO RS3s. F&R have another 500 local miles left, then off to wheatie to finish'em!

It will take 4 hours to clean the grime off of it.

Finally rode the bike. Upper 60°’s today, so Marie and I took the bikes out for some fun. Initially on county roads through farms and a few ranches, we made quick time to Tellico Plains. A couple of stops on the Cherohala, because time was not a factor, we got into NC and then turned around to head back.
Nobody caught us and we didn’t catch anyone else…perfect!

Paid our respects.

Rode it about 250 miles through some familiar roads. Left home at about 70 degrees, and it warmed up to almost 80, but the breeze was still nice and comfortable. Caught a flat on the rear tire about 11:30. String plug to the rescue and 25 minutes later, we are on our way.

Good tacos from a Mexican Lady in the Pine forest for lunch. Home safe late afternoon. My RS4 rear is toast - 6,300 miles. The front maybe could go another 500 miles. That makes about 15% more mileage than the RS3, at about 15% more cost. Fair enough.

Yesterday, I threw on a set of RS3 take offs I had lying around. They probably have about 2,000 miles left on them. That might get me to the 2025 summer adventure in early June. For that, I've got a brand new set of RS4s sitting on the shop floor.

The fjr eats tires, man. It eats them like salty potato chips with a good beer.

No regarding the 2000 miles until summer adventures, you mean to say you will only ride the FJR 10 times between February and June???? I don't buy it. Money that the RS4 will be mounted much sooner than June.

That very well might be. The beauty of being retired with your own tire machine (as you know) is that I can use ALL of the tread on my tires.

Bikes don't eat tires, riders do. How you apply the throttle means as much to tires as it does to fuel consumption. Some bikes just make it easier.
