Jasen - is that a GSX750? I sat on one of those in Austin at the Moto GP race. I really like the ergonomics.
It is a GSX-S1000
Same geometry as the GSX-S750 but obviously with the bigger motor. It's running the old K5 motor that had more stroke and produced more torque. It's freaking mental. I probably would have been good with the 750 but....MORE POWER!!!

Sounds fun! I'd love to ride something like that through the mountains someday.

The 1000? Holy cow, that puppy must scoot!
I may have sat on that one too in Austin, but don't remember it. Still, I do like the geometry on that bike, both hand, seat, and foot-wise. How effective is that fly screen? Fuel capacity and mileage? Can you get a top box rack for the 750? When we move to the mountains, I am going to get a smaller and lighter street bike to ride local, and save the FJR for the big tours.

Me too! Need warmer weather and time off to take it to Arkansas!

Yea, I had an FZ1 and loved it. I tried to go back to a GSX-R with my 750 but that just wasn't going to work. After all I've tried recently I had a feeling this would be exactly the sporting bike to go back to. All the fun with the right geometry for the street.

How effective is that fly screen?
I'd rate it's effectiveness as "There's a fly screen?" Screen door on a submarine type effectiveness. Still though, as was told to me years ago, I'd rather a lot of clean air than a bit of dirty air. It's clean and smooth, but a whole lot of it. Not too bad till you get to 80mph. The motor says "Hey, let's go REAL fast," and then the wind blast says "You need to slow the f@$k down!"
You can also pick up the F model which has a front fairing and a much better wind screen. I think it's ugly and wanted the raw naked fighter look though.

Fuel capacity and mileage?
I'll let you know, still in the first tank. Specs say the tank holds 4.5 gallons. Reports from others say about 150 miles per tank once broken in and it actually gets really good gas mileage all things considered.

You can fit all sorts of bags and stuff for this bike. Living in the mountains I think a 750F with some bags would make a great bike to get around the mountains. And the 750 is even cheaper!

I will pick up my new bike tomorrow.
It's tomorrow...pictures?
Just took this one.
Dang, a purdy blue 2016 Yamaha FJR 1300 ES! If I didn't have such a sexy red 2014 ES with low miles, that's the one that would be in my garage waiting for warm dry roads.

Just between you and me. The blue 16 is my favourite FJR. At least next to whatever FJR I happen to be riding

I strapped her down and tore into her rear end.
Lubing rear pivots and related pieces. Great guidance from Bryan Glynn’s video.

Hey thanks Craig!!! I was a little nervous about tackling that swing arm lube crap, but with the video I think I can follow. Much obliged!

Call me a dick, but hope you don't follow the videos literally. Errors and omissions, questionable ways, waaaay too long. Sorry, not a fan, I can't watch them. This one.... Why weren't the two end bearings greased on the suspension pivot.... which was the whole idea of going in there in the first place and taking the center stand off.

It's YouTube, my expectations are low. He could benefit from an editor (I play 'em at 1.5x or 2x), and he addressed his omission of the end bearings in the description. But, he does a good job of showing where all the fasteners are and the order of tear-down. For me, it removed that fear of F'n something up that I couldn't undo. We'll see how I do on re-assembly...
Oh, yeah...yer a dick.

Rode it to work, in the rain. 59 degrees this morning with a forecast high now of 66 so the rain didn't bother me. Winter weather advisory starting at midnight tonight until 10 am Saturday and turns colder again but only around 28-30 degrees. Beats the 10 or lower we had the past almost 2 weeks. Welcome to PA. Day 299 consecutive of riding 10 or more miles a day.

Rain like hell last night. We lost about a foot of snow. Then the temps dropped to -8. Snow. Flash freeze. The temps on the way to work dropped from -12 to -16 in 10 minutes. Buses aren't running. Roads are shit show.
Yet, here I sit at work like a good little drone.

42F and sunny here. Meh, too cold. Never ride in temperatures below your age.

Nah man, don't apologize. Only apologize when you DON'T get out for a ride when you get a break in the weather like that.
