So I am really tired and confused and don't have time to start on a Ride Report tonight. Don't have time to load pics into Photobucket, just had time to scan through the pics for the first time.

Just a couple pics that stood out for me, I hope y'all see the good in these two.

Somewhere on the Beartooth:

When I got home tonight it was 87 degrees after dark. The #2 trip meter tells my story.

raYzerman wrote: Wed Sep 11, 2019 11:16 pm I am not understanding the Road5 thing. $20 each more than the PR4, why bother when the PR4 (rear) is such a good tire? IMHO unless you are doing 2 up, no need for GT tires on the FJR, the ass end of an FJR isn't that heavy. Different story if you had an ST1300....
Just so you know, I got the Road 5s because I was curious and the early reviews were so mixed. I also thought that with the bigger openings in the tread pattern they might do better on the little sand accumulations that often gather unseen on the asphalt, often at intersections. I had not put very many miles on them although they have been on the bike for a while. The FJR has not been seeing a lot of use lately, been commuting on the DR650.

We put the Road 5s on Pop's bike because our local Cycle Gear did not have the PR4GTs in stock and it was going to take too long to get them. I waited too long to get Pop's bike ready for this trip.

We will NOT be buying these tires again. Pop has made it clear that he wants his PR4GTs back and he wants them back soon.

Also agreeing with you, I see no difference in anything between the PR4GT and the regular PR4. I ran the PR4 and Pop ran the GT version. No difference that I could see.

Will try to get some pics and numbers tomorrow. But I agree with you. I am not understanding the Road5 Thing either.

Redfish, I did sell my Yosh's and received Paypal funds for them, so you certainly don't owe me money that's for sure. You are correct, the ad is nowhere to be seen for some reason, so it does look like there is a mystery to be solved. I only ever believed in one conspiracy theory, that was the JFK thing, but that took decades for the info to become public. I also believe the moon landing was not a hoax. I read a thick book about Area 51, all very interesting, and at the end of it, there is a plausible explanation for the Rozwell incident. I enjoy a good mystery, certainly looking forward to how this one comes out.
I do hope you and Pop enjoyed your trip, I'm looking forward to your ride report and at least one pic with you smiling.

In Lindsay TX tonight. Hope to be home tomorrow night.

We have upgraded our feelings on the Road 5.

We have gone from “don’t really like”
To “I hate this F&@$ing tire.”
Makes me glad I went back to the PR4GT.

Redfish, funny, I was looking at your dad's pipes and almost brought up the Yosh's to see if you'd seen the ad. Funny that they ended up on your doorstep in the long run. Before you start thinking, it wasn't me. If I had the money for them, they'd be on MY bike, as they are about the only pipes I'd consider for the FJR, since I don't need pipes for the FJR. The little blue screamer might get pipes eventually, but probably not the FJR.

Went to it to check tyre pressures, pumped them up. Looked at the front tyre's tread. Hmm. Doing maybe 2500 miles next week. Should be enough. "But", said I to myself, "we are hitting the Alps. Want some proper tread, it might get wet."

So, phoned my local go-to for tyres, yes, he has a BT023 in stock. So, whipped the wheel off, took it round, new tyre on, back to the bike.

Put the wheel on, but, as I was fiddling the brake callipers back on, "Hmm. Not much meat left on those. We are hitting the Alps. Might be doing some heavy braking."

So, phoned my dealer, yes, he has pads for the FJR in stock. So, round I go, look at the pads, they are EBC, not Yamaha. Oh well, no choice, it's Friday today, I am leaving early Sunday. Got a train to catch. (It goes under the English Channel, like an underground ferry.)

So, mounted the pads, a quick ride to the nearest road that I can get up to speed to check the wheel balance, no wobbles, and the brakes work, so all well. Back home, ready to pack tomorrow.

Quite a hectic morning.

Learned that just because you order FJR 90 degree stems from Amazon does it mean the Chinese slave laborer puts the right one in the box. I have mounted and removed the front tire twice now before the lightbulb went on and slapped me in the face that the stems are too small. I will get a straight stem temporarily until the proper 90s come in. I will just install the front tire most likely before EOM.

I was on the alleged Extraterrestrial Highway in Nevada a couple of days ago, unintentionally, believe me when I say, their is no Area 51, man, there is NOTHING cept desert and dumbasses towing FJR's going across Nevada at 15mph below the speed limit wonder if they'll ever see a human ever again.

Rode to Greenville yesterday to talk to Ivan about scheduling him to tune my CPU. He ended up doing it then and I rode up 276 to Caesars Head and then on to Pisgah. Traffic at the entrance to the forest is crazy but it got manageable after Looking Glass Falls. That is what I get for going there on a Saturday on the tail of tourist season. ( at least it isn't leaf season yet :-) ). After the minor madness I headed to the BRP and took the slow ride to Cherokee. It was good to just cruise with no worries, little traffic and great weather. Ended the day in Stecoha. Good meal with friends and neighbors and a nights rest.

Today I'll hopefully make a trip down deals gap and then Cherohala Skyway before heading back to SC and home down Hwy 28. If I don't get my butt in gear, the stupids will be out and 129 may be miserable. (or maybe I'll be the stupid)
