Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Took the FJR for a short ride yesterday. Nice and smooth with the new tires.
Today I need to find some M3x11mm screws to fix the saddle bag.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Used a visit to family in Charleston (SC) to continue my end to end highway rides. Saturday I rode SC Hwy 6 from Ballentine to Moncks Corner. A nice ~115 mile hop through small towns/communities, forest and farmlands. Very little traffic to speak of except near interstate junctions.
Sunday I started in Goose Creek and went west following US 176 from there to Hendersonville NC. Slightly longer at about ~235 miles but amazingly little traffic. Again, with the exception of the sections that passed through Columbia and Spartanburg it was mostly forest, farmland and small communities. An easy and enjoyable day trip with a nice finosh of Pizza and a beer in Ashevegas.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Took off the front wheel to replace the tire and found I had bent the rim.
This damage relates to a pothole I hit in West Virginia in May. I realized I bent the rear rim when I arrived home. I didn't see the damage to the front wheel at the time.
Hopefully the new tire will mount without issue.

I'm guessing you may get more vibration at higher speeds depending on how bashed up it is.RacinRay wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2019 10:28 am Took off the front wheel to replace the tire and found I had bent the rim.

You may know, there are automotive businesses that can straighten out a lot of damage to alloy rims. I would check them out, before mounting a new tire on a bad rim. Any metal cracking at the damaged area would be very bad news. The rim may also be warped, or out of round. Check eBay or the other classified ad sites, if you need a new(er) rim.
That must have been a significant hit, to damage both the front and rear wheels. Take good care, there.
My US$.02 worth.

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.
Yeah, I ride motorcycles. I know why dogs put their heads out of the car windows.
Yeah, I fly hang gliders (3000 hrs.+). I know why the birds sing.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Some time after I bought this bike I was riding down the road and for some reason I pressed the horn button. meep. What? meep. ???? meep meep meeeeep. Who the heck thought that is a horn? Lowest bidder for sure. I bought a pair of Fiamm “Freeway Blaster” horns and they have been sitting on the counter so I decided I would install them this morning before I left for work. The 2015 only has one horn and I haven't gotten around to making a harness to feed the 2nd one so, I installed the one one the left. 1 socket head screw, 1 10mm nut and a couple of wires. HONK! HONNNK! good. SWMBO opens the shop door and announces that it *is* 06:00 and no one in the house appreciated my new found happiness with my half finished horn.
Despite my saying that at least I wasn't roaring out of the neighborhood on one of my open pipe bikes, she still didn't offer to cook me her interpretation of breakfast. Oh well. Hop on the bike and stop by the diner on the way to work. Maybe they'll like my new horn?

Oui. For some time, but will be home real soon to relieve our house sitter. Très magnifique. BTW, spent some time with a guy in his bright orange McLaren 720S Spider and his friend with a white Lotus Elise yesterday.

Road it about 200 miles today.
Searching for roads paved with Asphalt, unless I am riding the mighty DR650 bushpig.

I got my new front tire mounted. The Tech said it balanced right up despite the ding in the wheel.
