Rode mine to work for the first time in several days. Past couple of day a personal water craft would have been my only other option with all the rain we've been hammered with. Several road closures in my area.

Rode it to work. Nice ride through the countryside. Got to the highway and it wasn't a nice ride in a bumper to bumper snail crawl. I was having visions of an AE periodically pop up.

Ya know, I've never ridden an AE. But I have ridden a Honda DCT. I could be swayed.

Maybe you could talk Billy Fitz into giving up his '06AE, rumour has it he needs an African Twin DCT.

If Yamaha hasn't done something by the time I'm ready to change out the FJR, I could be going Honda because this AE is the finest commuter ever. All I have to do is go a week or so without it to be reminded of the fact that I hate working the clutch while commuting.

Jasen - I can see the benefit of the AE for urban commuting. In France, DCT scooters are extremely popular and its easy to see why.

I don't have a traffic filled commute so my situation is different.

I remember when I first started driving I had a manual transmission truck. I hated going to an automatic on the next one.
I don't think I will ever do it on a motorcycle. I like the clutch and shifting.

But like I said I don't commute. Sitting in traffic every day might change my ideas real quick.

I will say the guys I have rode with that have an AE love them.

It's all about the right tool for the job.

I used to have this, it was a hoot when in it's element.

I hated sitting in traffic in it though, so my truck with auto transmission is so much nicer getting to and from work and general getting around, when I'm not on the bike.

With bikes, they are easier to store, so it's possible to have more than one tool, and not need make one tool do it all.

The little blue one is mad fun, though, with the power, there's not a whole lot of working through the gears needed, but I do enjoy the clutch and shifting. Having spent two weeks commuting on it though, it was clearly not in it's element (except in the Texpress lanes where speeds are not hardly ever monitored) where the FJR does the better job. For FJR type riding, most everywhere, the AE is amazing and I love it.

Rode it to a local Yamaha demo day, got to test out the Ivan reflash a bit more, but I really need a longer trip. I was supposed to ride the MT-09 but they messed up my reservation, so rode the XSR900. 'A' mode was freaking cool. Then I got on a Tracer GT and put it in A mode. I was a little underwhelmed (a little) after the XSR, but the Tracer may replace the FJR one day...... meanwhile I have been up to no good the last few days...... teaser pic.
