New member in WI.

Post by MindWebs »

Picked up a 2012 fjr last April, hope to learn a bit more about them.

Been riding for 20 years now, maybe someday I'll learn how to do it right ;)

So far mods are minor, front and rear crash bars, bar risers, highway pegs, throttle lock, driver backrest.

I've started reading threads and am learning..
So far some good stuff here!

Winter now... just got 10" this morning. How depressing

Studded tires on a fjr?
Not sure that would help with the 3ft we already have

Timbersled conversion?

Jokes aside, looking forward to spring!

Welcome to the community. There are a several of good web sources for information (this being one), and better yet tech days are coming, with a couple of them being on the same weekend the later part of April. One of them is less than 2 hrs from your neck of the woods.

Welcome to the asylum MindWebs! Most of us are thinking Spring as well. Don't know that I've ever seen an FJR with a driver's backrest. Should be fun to mount the bike with that on.

Another cheesehead, GREAT! :D

Welcome! I'm sure you know where all the good roads are in SW WI...but in case you don't, there's a little gathering of like minded FJR riders happening in June. It's being based this year in Dubuque, IA, of all places...but should be within striking distance of the good roads. Its being set up by some jerk from Iowa, but don't let where he comes from keep you away...it takes all kinds to make this world go around.

Welcome. Be careful of telling that OFACE guy where you live. He has been known to hide boogers on your seat. Try to stay warm up there for another 5 to 6 months. BEWARE, this group can be sarcastic.

Make a tech day or group ride with some of us. It is such a great group of people here. We are all fortunate to ride these bikes and be part of the FJR community.

Good to see you found this place. I bet you will like it.
I often have found myself when I was not looking, nor did that discovery take place where I thought it would!

Thanks everyone,

elwood wi, (locked garage, not worried about boogers, besides he'd have to clear off the bugs to get them to stick)
Sarcasm? Excellent, then I am in good company!
I believe in thick skin. Sorry I'll skip the donkey part.

Looking forward to meeting up for a tech day.

It's way less frustrating to make repairs/upgrade after seeing the correct way to do it.

Lots of twisties around here...

The alphabet roads of WI, along with the Michigan UP are most assuredly on my bucket list. SE Ohio too, but that's kind of a trip of another flavor, I think.

Welcome to the madness. We are glad to have ya!

Welcome MindWebs. I'm the jerk Wheaton warned you about above. Stop down at the CFO (Central FJR Owners) rally in Dubuque in June and meet some of these loonies in person. You won't be sorry. (Yes, you will.)

Info here, and registration here.

Hope to see you there and put another face to a forum handle.
