Ha! I can relate. Not as dramatic experience that I had.

I had a 76 DT 125 for plonking around the dirt/fire roads around our cottage. It had a chronic rusty cam on the flywheel. Which means the rubbing block on the points would work great for a couple hours and then slowly cause an ignition misfire and eventually lead to a DOA engine. I got quite good fixing it trailside with the toolkits crushed Yugo Phillips screwdriver and rock to shock the flywheel off (no joke).

One day me and my buddy with a POS of shit RM125 are blasting around the gravel pit on our bikes. Like you, hot as f@$k. My bike starts to misfire. By this point, I'd had it with this stupid thing. I stop in the middle of the pit, Ger rides over, "Whats the matter?" I explain "I'm gonna pin the bitch until it seizes or detonates, either way, this isn't leaving the gravel pit". I think Ger thought I was just joking because I was pissed.

With that I proceeded to pin it and do a 50 foot flat track style donuts around him. The air was thick with the dust I kicked up, I didn't really know where the feck he was, and he didn't move for the same reason. The whole time, the bike won't rev any higher and is screaming WAHHHHH-<FART><BANG>-WAHHH. Everytime it <FART><BANGED> it would try to get me off its back by high-siding.

It never did seize or detonate. But it never ran right after that day. No amount of point adjusting would bring it back to anything near normal 'power'. Some poor asshole stole it from our cottage. I hope it finally died, deep in the bush with the thief on its back.

baowow wrote: Mon Apr 23, 2018 11:10 am Pants, I was very close to setting that tire on fire. But then I learned how to go deep into the"V" and it slipped right on no fuss. The trick is to make sure every little bit that is not by the mounting bar to be in the "V" (drop center).

Way to go baowow. That is the technique. I have a dish space heater - works great. Placing the mount bar in the right location to begin helps a lot two so the vertical bar does not impede - I keep screwing up that one. I use my hip to move the mount bar - when I put on RS 3's my hip hurt from pushing. I took a break as well then resumed and the tire slowly gave and slipped on. Just to see that slow progress was motivation to keep going.

This morning, I walked by my disassembled FJR and hopped on the wife's Honda NC700XD to ride to work.

I RODE TO WORK TODAY! Yippee! :D

Now I know how you Northerners feel after taking the winter off, except in my case I've been sidelined by ankle surgery for 3 months. Doc said I could ride so I'm gonna ride something. I didn't expect such an early release from motorcycle restriction, so I pulled the injectors out of my FJR last week to send off for cleaning and I had to settle for the DCT Honda. As it is, I'm gonna have to adjust the shift lever on the FJR before riding it because I don't have the same range of motion in that left ankle anymore.

It is a beautiful blue sky day in Seattle but the FJR sits in the garage today. Honestly I am bored riding to the same old places over and over and over. Been there done that. So today I will do some more chores around the house and go for a 10 mile ride on my little used mountain bicycle.

Last week I was moaning about the snow on Snoqualmie Pass as I was hoping drop off the FJR in Spokane. We left my car in Spokane instead. The bet paid off. On Wednesday we move to Spokane and with blue skies and 75d degrees weather. Looking forward to the ride on I-90 with the Bushtec in tow. Woo hoo life it good.

Same. I practically never take my bike out to work (to f'n dangerous nowadays) or, to just go for a ride 'around' town. I've done every ride maybe 500 times within a 100 mile radius. Yawn fest. Now, if I lived closer to some hwy ramps... :D

Rode it to work. After a few years with the V-Stream I forgot how the bike looked with a stock shield. Also forgot what it felt like. Almost zero buffeting but a lot more wind in my face. I'd gotten used to it by the time I made the 100 mile round trip commute.

Put on my new license plate frame. 😎 Because of my Lightning Strike brake light, I'll have to do some light dremmeling to the top, around the light. Looks great though!

I can relate as well. Back in 80-s I had a russian made bike Voshod, 175cm3, with newly developed electronic ignition, which, as most russian tehcnics, was not too reliable. We were at countryside at our summerhouse and on a nice Saturday night I was riding with my fiancee to the local disco some 15 km away, all in a nice and shiny party gear. Some 5 km from home the motor just stopped and would not start. No kickstart (did not have the battery & starter), no pushing, nothing would help. So we walked it back home through a modestly hilly landscape... Sure, no party that night and it was the last time I ever touched that piece of shit. Some years later I just gave it to my neighbour who liked to collect crap metal. As to complete the miserable story fiancee became my wife later on. Although I do love my wife, I still partly blame that bloody bike for that

None of my motorcycles had a "party" gear, though I did put a large sprocket on the back of my RD350, I called it a "drag" gear.

Rode it to work today. Surprised at the turnout on a Friday when most will work from home. Yes I park like that. On some nice days we can fill up that parking area and I get to work early which means I leave early. I only get blocked in once.

That Aprilia in the back has about $2K worth of suspension work. I bet it's a hoot.

Gave it the Silverback detail treatment. Guaranteed to remove 25% or less of last year's bugs and road grime.

Also moved the fairing extensions back into the fast position.Image

I RODE it. That's messed up considering all the great weather we've had. I've just been up to my ears lately. So, my oldest did a homework project last night and needed it bound. So my wife had that done, and then I jumped on the bike and delivered it to her. She goes to a school that's not our home school, so its 6 miles away and 10-15 minutes depending on traffic.

I dropped off the homework and the receptionist was all over what kind of bike I rode. Says her BF is looking for a new bike for them. I left there and took the long way home. Ended up trapped behind a bunch of cars in a one lane Pilot Car construction zone. As soon as I cleared that, I stretched her legs. Dayum, I forget how much fun 3rd gear near red line is. Haha.

Then, my oldest stayed after school for review for an AP test she has to take in order to get college credit for her AP Biology class. Practice test is tomorrow, so I took the bike. She cracks up when I pick her up on the FJR. We had a fun ride home, then chilled and I took her to softball practice. This time we took the truck, because she has her standard bag with bats and helmet and stuff, and then her cathcher's bag. That's not all fitting on the FJR. I've thought about it. Haha....
