Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
This morning I put a Yamaha windshield on, puts the top of the windshield just below eye level, went for a ride..I still have just a touch of buffeting on the top of my helmet during my test ride I stopped in at Winnipeg’s best motorcycle seat upholstery person..who carefully measured the seat front-back and told me that it sloped 1.5” towards the front and that it also was crowned towards the center of the seat where it should be flat. $300.00 to correct both issues and put a 1” thick layer of gel in...Appointment made for the seat to be dropped off.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Wrap the tire in a box or a wool blanket with an intake of heat source...hair dryer, heat lamp,...whatever. GET that tire HOT! This winter (spring?) in Chicago...laying it out in the sun will get it colder. Now in the summertime, I agree....sun can woik magic.
Just so you know, PR2 rear tire sidewalls are so sloppy flexible, they slip on like sloppy seconds. They ride just fine, too. T30 fronts aren't too bad either. I do NOT get the GT/stiffer spec, whatever. Some boys I ride with say I can do okay in the curves.

Are you SURE that the seat is correctly installed?CollingsBob wrote: ↑Fri Apr 20, 2018 8:43 am ..who carefully measured the seat front-back and told me that it sloped 1.5” towards the front and that it also was crowned towards the center of the seat where it should be flat
I mentioned this because I know that you are new to the FJR. To change the seat height from one of the two levels to the other, the front of the seat is inserted into a different opening AND the support for the back or the seat is lifted up and moved. Possible that you have it set for the lower position at the front of the seat and the higher position for the rear???
(I don't know whether this CAN be done but make sure this is not the case before you have the seat rebuilt.)
If you are aware of the way the rider seat is set up, please ignore my suggestion!

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
As I am new, I’ll double check it..The plastic frame that the seat sits on is in the forward position..and the plastic “tongue” on the front of the seat is in the lower of the two positions available..

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I just watched a Bryan Glynn video on seat adjustment...looks like my seat is installed correctly. Just to be 100% sure I rode to a friends place where he confirmed the seat was properly mounted..

The other day installed some GTYR slipons. Definitely changed the sound.

Left out this morning and headed for Valley Forge, PA to get a picture of a Tour of Honor memorial and a couple of pressed pennies for the IBA challenge ride I'm doing. Nice 185-190 mile day for my 399th consecutive riding day.

Best Post Evar.
I see you have the golf clubs handy to beat the tire into submission, in case things don't go right.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Mounted 4 tars today, on the project bikes wheels and my spares for the '14. They baked up in the sun quite nice and hot, and it was 65F here. The rears were a used Bridgestone BT023 and a new RS3, stiffies but the heat helped a lot. Gorgeous day, I shoulda been out riding but I've got other things going on with the '14. Tomorrow the WR gets a wee run to tune up the carb.

Rode it yesterday. Bath today. Installed new license plate frame (thanks Designflaw06!), and retired my original Mr.Happy. Ms Tyler said it best, "He's been through some shit..."

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
No word from Biker Chuck in a few days..... hmmmmm......
Craig - glad you are home safe. Heal up and take it one day at a time, please.
Bawwow - got a good chuckle from your post this morning and had an instant flashback. When I was a teenager, I had a buddy that was a hot head (still is). He had a Suzuki RM250 that was a POS and never really ran right. Typical late 70s/early 80s 2-stroke crap. Always fouling plugs. Always clogging jets. Always _______. Always something. One afternoon - it was hot. I mean HOT AS HELL with high humidity. We were riding in his family's fields and his bike dies. 15 minutes later, changed the plug, etc. - still won't start. He kicks and he kicks and he kicks. Finally, he looks at the bike and declares quite matter of factly:
"I'm going to give you 5 more kicks, and if you don't start by then, that's your ass....."
5 kicks later..... nothing. So, he dismounts, leans it against the tree, and starts walking toward the house. I'm just sitting in the shade trying to figure out what the heck is going on. 10 minutes later, here he comes with a S/M 357 revolver in hand. Unloads all 6 rounds at point blank range at the motor. Oil is sprewing out in several places. Without saying a word, he walks back tot he house. 10 minutes later, he rides to me in his brother's Honda CR125 and says "C-mon, let's go riding!"
I swear - that old Suzuki stayed leaned against that tree for years. It was never spoken of again.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Pants, I was very close to setting that tire on fire. But then I learned how to go deep into the"V" and it slipped right on no fuss. The trick is to make sure every little bit that is not by the mounting bar to be in the "V" (drop center).
