RFH, Thanks man, you're almost making me blush.

I rode to work today as well, no shock there. Day 374 now complete. It has been tough I will admit to that. I've been blessed this time with a mild enough winter to allow a successful attempt. I'm going to continue and see just how far I can take it.

Hope to raise a glass with you and Pops in Spearfish!

Nice, I'm stuck at home on call this weekend. 76F and sunny, but freaking windy.

Tested the horsepower to grip ratio on some squiggly roads on the SC/NC/GA border with people I hadn't ridden with before. No ditches were found..Fun and exhilaration reigned.

You better head on over to Griff's and get some new rubber!

I've got my own NoMar thank you, and believe it or not, I know how to use it. :)

I've got plenty of rubbers thank-you and don't need no sloppy seconds from Griff. The only question is to whether I put on the Ramble dedicated new rubber now, or a takeoff for some day rides in April...prolly the latter.

Right answer, Festus. Best of both worlds.
It must be 2013 day. I've spent the last couple of days working on someone else's '13, installing some farkles and fluid flush and bleeds. It left here today, and I started dragging a few parts out of the trailer from the '06 project bike..... mainly the wheels so I can put some tars on it and make that thing a rolling chassis.

After five days of being out of town, walked by her to drive the car. She must think I'm a cruel asshole.

My usual ride into work but my day got better. It seems our shop failed to return some customer parts when the customer picked up their cylinder. Boss asked if anyone wanted to take a drive and meet the customer's truck at a halfway point and I said I'd do it. 3 hours riding on the clock today and told to put in for mileage. 121 mile round trip to drop off a box of parts weighing about 15 pounds and got .58/mile from my employer for doing it. What else needs delivered? I'm on it!

Day 381.

Not my bike, but my brother-in-law's '03. A few days ago, he dropped a set of T30 GTs in my garage. I told him we could install them yesterday. We'd start at 8 and be done by 11. HA!! f@$king yeah, right!

The front tire would NOT mount. It was easy enough to put on, but it would stick in the trough. I tried to force it out, and that section would roll around. I took it off and put it back on twice, before we decided to do the rear and just let that front sit in the sun and warm up some.

I am an ANAL clown. I mark the rotation direction on the rotors with a sharpie. Did that on the front before I took it off and did the same with the rear. I was dealing with two issues on Tuesday. Our microwave has taken a shit so my buddy who is an appliance guy was coming by. We had removed the rear wheel and I was marking the heavy spot on the rear rim when I had to go inside and see how the microwave was going. When I went back out, my BIL had the rim on the machine and the rear tire partially on. I KNEW to check his work, but did I? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

So, that rear tire went right on. It was amazing. Usually these T30 GTs are a fist-fight, but that one was amazing. Nice! It took air, sealed up perfectly, and I took it off the machine to balance it. That's when I realized something didn't look right. Sure enough, it was on backwards. MOTHERFATHER!! GAWD...I knew better. So, back on the machine, made BIL break the bead, took off the tire and remounted it. Finished that up, got a good easy balance, and went back to that front.

In all, we ended up mounting that front tire 5x. I finally ended up taking it to Bobby J's to help me out. They had to use their ATV tire mounting machine, the "Cheeta" to force that tire to pop. I was pissed and hungry, as it was now nearly 2pm. Their lead tech, Chad, who is a cool dude was talking to me and I was bitching to him. Then he said, "You know we'll do that for you for $20, right?" Gawd, I hate that guy! Lol...They set my tire for free and I headed home.

I installed the rear, after a good fight. WTF is with the GenI wheel quirks? Except for the brake bar being easy to disconnect, that thing was a PITA. Couldn't get the caliper to cooperate. Whatever...Finally won that battle and finished that dammed wheel. Then it was on to the front.

Ok, thank God I marked that wheel, because there is no way I would know which way it's supposed to mount. No sensor like the GenII. So, put the tire in, and the left caliper would mount, but not the right. I forced it on, and sure enough, the brakes were locked up. WTF!?! I pulled up FJRTECH, and realized the spacers had been installed backwards. Pulled off the wheel, rotated the spacers and it got worse. After an hour f@$king with that, I spun the wheel around, put the spacers on the correct side and it worked perfectly.

The guy my BIL bought that bike from is a certified jackass. That fucktard had the wheel on backwards, and the spacers reversed. Somehow it was mostly working. Of course when I tried to repeat that, doing things correctly, it didn't work for me. So, now his front tire is mounted backwards, because I mounted it according to how I took it off. Honest to God, it's a front tire, and I didn't care. It was 4pm, and I needed to pick up my middle daughter at 4:30. We started at 0800 and went for 8.5 hours, for ONE set of tires.

It took me until this morning to get all my tools put away. I think I'm done with this tire crap. I'll say this: If any of you are driving through Albuquerque and have the room, stop by my house, and I'll give you the entire machine and all the accessories for $200. I've had it!! From now on, I'll take the wheels off, take them to Bobby J's and for $40, I'll have mounted and balanced wheels. Shit, on that note, if you get this blue bastard out of my house, I'll let you have the balancer for $50. Its nicer than the Marc Parnes version.

So, was it a NoMar or some other gawdawful machine? I don't buy the GT spec, never have, never will...my machine hasn't blown up...they both have the same damn GVWR.

I love slipping on those floppy PR2 rear tires...and whatever the latest flavor T30 or PP tires for the front.

I hear your frustration and don't blame you...asshats had circumstances working against you.

Damn 'Zilla. I hate days like that. Sounds worse than when I used to spoon on tires without a tire machine. Monkey and a football...JSNS.

Glad you were able to get it done.

Also...$20? Jesus. Here it's $50 per wheel if you only bring in the wheels. More if youbbring the bike. Most places won't spoon on tires they didn't price gouge you on.

I can see why you'd go for that instead.

Also...if you were having trouble getting the bead to contact and seal so it will pop, I have had luck using a ratchet strap around the circumference to snug it up. Another method is Murphy's Tire soap. The stuff is thicker than gun grease and you can pack it around a bead that won't seat and it will seal enough to expand the tire and get contact to seat the bead.

Still. I vote for the $20 option...
