With the Gen3 cruise control, it works so well you don't even slow down! I've practiced it a few times, along with the "I'm watching you" two-finger gesture.
I'm sure that two finger gesture is quite effective in reducing asshat behavior...<not> :D :D
It might make someone want to draw a bead on you though. I know it would me. :stickpoke:

If I have to throw the single finger out there...it is usually just before dumping massive amounts of fuel and air into all 4 cylinders.

Calling for my area to be on the trailing edge of a possible Noreaster. Bulk of the bad stuff is to be east of my location but that's a guess at best. Going to watch the local news tonight and if necessary go Paul Revere again and take a midnight ride. We're currently looking at somewhere from 2-5 inches of totally unwanted white shit from the sky. I'm hoping it holds off and doesn't start until around 5 am and so far as I know should be over in the late afternoon or early evening.
How many times around your block is ten miles? Surely the neighbor's pickemup truck can plow the block for ya.

That would be a nice thought......Boring ride, but a nice thought. One neighbor has offered the use of his old Yamaha Riva scooter if I don't want to risk the FJR. I've done a few midnight rides so far in order to keep the streak alive so one more isn't a big deal. Provided I can get that done the roads should be cleared and fit to ride again on Thursday. Just the normal PA weather. We get 4 seasons, sometimes in one week.

It's been flurrying a little bit already but nothing sticking to the roads so far. Forecast has been updated and calling for 5-9 inches now in my area. Setting alarm for midnight and going full Paul Revere provided the roads are clear. I want this perfect year and have fought tooth and nail to make it this far yet acknowledge my safety and the safety of my bike must take precedence.

Thanks to all for the cheers and support. Will keep you all posted!

Be safe, Chuck.... IIRC, your goal is 10 miles... I'll vote that if you roll into your 10th mile at 00:01, it counts!

Just got home and day 353 is safely completed. Almost 36 degrees out and a light misty rain in some areas. A little too warm for snow but I think it is coming. Penndot already declared some highways off limits to empty trailers or box trucks, and motorcycles. My streak lives for another day. Now to hope this is a fast moving front and roads clear by Thursday evening. Fingers crossed but still closing in on a perfect year!

Well victory wouldn't be so sweet without at least a little drams. BC - I'm echoing the others in diligence. Please don't do anything stupid. What you've done so far is remarkable and I hope it continues indefinitely. But not another day at the risk of you getting hurt. Keep your eye on the prize, but a closer eye on your safety. At this point every day is icing on the cake.

We're rooting for ya!!

Pants, as usual the weather guessers have been wrong at least for my area. They've now downgraded our area forecast to a 2-5 inch range like it had been earlier. State offices were all announced as being closed last night by 7:00 and yet this morning roads were completely clear and only slightly wet. I've been at work for almost 3 hours and it's more of a sleet/freezing rain than snow here. I understand the counties east of me and north of my area may be getting some snow but my particular spot on the planet is remaining unscathed. So long as the roads stay clear and I can get out safely tomorrow I'm still in the running for my "perfect year".

I chatted briefly on FB with my pal Blaine Paulus. He's now passed his 18th anniversary of daily riding but being retired he left the area Sunday and rode down to Daytona for bike week. He spends his time at the track watching the races though. No pirate stuff there.

Do they really include motorcycles in their off limits announcements? Seems like they would automatically assume that no one in their right mind would be out on a motorcycle in those conditions! Of course, us FJR riders aren't all in their right mind, so maybe it's a good idea.

Yeah, they actually called out motorcycles! LOL. The interstate I use as my "cheat route" when the weather is bad was not part of the announcement but even if it had been and I'd been pulled over I'd have just claimed to be on my way home from work on night shift. Of course the announcement led to a whole lot of people on the book of face talking about how stupid someone would have to be to go out on a motorcycle at this time of year anyway.

Damn shame is our area has pretty much remained unscathed through this whole mess. There is absolutely nothing on the ground where I'm at. Less than 25 miles away in Lancaster, PA it's a mess.I guess the storm stayed further east than expected and my area missed out.

Was watching the news and one of the weather trucks was out in some bad tropical type of storm. They were talking about how bad the weather conditions were and how no one should be out in it, then they got passed by a motorcycle. I laughed for an hour over that one.

Rode the FJR to work today, weather was freaking glorious here in Dallas. The traffic, not so much, but when it's 65F and sunny and I'm on the bike, I don't mind it so much. I just remind myself that soon it'll be 110F and Sunny and I'll be not happy about being stuck in traffic.

I couldn't find a connector, for putting on 2 horns on a Gen III, at Lowes, but saw these on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Connecto ... 2470955011. Just to be certain, are these what I need?

They look very much like what I used.

I did this to my FJR about an hour ago: plugged the rear tire. A really thin finishing nail or brad had punched through the center. Filled it to 42 psi (do Canadians use psi?) and will check it in the morning. Riding 250 miles to visit with Mom for 4 days. (Well, isn't this a great photo? :? )

Rode it to work this morning. After yesterday's blizzard that never came. Day 354 in the books. 11 more to go but snow is in forecast for Sunday night into Monday morning again. Hoping it turns like this last one did.

Excellento!!!

Hud - I'd wager you'd be just fine. I've plugged many a rear tire in the center and if the plug holds for 5 miles, it will hold for 5,000.

Now, off the center? No way, Jose'

Yeah I rode well over 5,000 miles with a plugged PR4 on the back. This one's on the back, too. Not sure how I'd feel about a plugged FRONT tire.

Road my FJR yesterday. Wasn't much maybe 50 miles. Went to a local meat market to get some thick New York steak for the first BBQ of the season. Yummy!
