Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I am in my office. 38 miles from my house. Every school between me and home has closed due to the snow that is coming down, but temps are and will remain a few degrees above freezing. I rode to the office. I may be screwed. Gambling on the heavily traveled roads being clear.

I see you like to keep your bike in S-skate mode in the winter time. Wise choice.

Come to think about it, it's probably time we northerners put the mesh away and get out the long sleeved tee shirts...... no white stuff here, should be 35 today.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Squalls off Huron today. Mostly just lightly snowing though. Temps are supposed to go in the shitter over the next few days. -14 tonight, below -20 mid week.
Why do I live here again?
Oh ya, replace the Gooderich AT's on the Tacoma with Cooper A/TW's. BIG difference in traction in the snow. I'm unsure how their gonna be at -35, but for more typical winter conditions, they seem to do a good job. Saved $335 in sales/rebates though Crappy Tire. The best part, no more f@$king shimmy through the steering wheel at > 60mph. Which is a necessity when driving through a snow covered parking lot 4 days before Xmas.

Well, you guys are not going to believe this, but this is what I woke up to this morning:

Holy Shit!!!! It snowed this morning!!! First time since 2010, and perhaps the earliest in the season on record. All gone by about 11:00 am, but it was kind of cool.

Temps dropped abruptly from 35F to 30F. Made it home. Within an hour, 5 inches. If I’d left 30 minutes later, I’d have been stranded. 6-7” now.

WTF? Why do you put those dashes in front of your temperatures? Don't understand.bungie4 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2017 3:15 pm Squalls off Huron today. Mostly just lightly snowing though. Temps are supposed to go in the shitter over the next few days. -14 tonight, below -20 mid week.

Rode mine to work this morning. 19 degrees out, had to turn up the heated gear a notch compared to the 36 from yesterday. Day 269 consecutive of 10 miles or more. Keeping my fingers crossed for a perfect year.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Down to about 37F, I don't reach for my heated gear for commutes. Today, it was 25F, and I enjoyed every single watt. This coming weekend, I am going on the trip that got canceled due to 7" of snow last weekend. The wife will be wearing my heated gear. I will surely miss it at some point.
This year, when cold weather arrived, instead of pulling my Yamaha touring screen and putting on the (largest) cee bailey, I put on a brand new vstream 20309. The 20309 isn't bad, but it has a little less protection (sides) and more buffeting. Today I rode with the cee bailey for the first time in a while. What a difference. The tallest cee bailey is a couple of inches shorter than the tallest vstream, but it offers greater protection and a notably quieter pocket than the 20309, at least for this rider. Were they to re-enter the motorcycle business, I'd order another as a spare in a heartbeat. In the summer, the Yamaha touring screen is heaven, but when it's cold, it leaves a bit to be desired.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Time to break out the mud and snow tires? Probably have some snow soon here too. However, it was a nice 37°F on the way into work today. Projected 60°F for the ride home.
Not bad for mid-December.
