You must be a fair weather rider now Andy if you haven't ridden in rain in 4 years. I remember the days when you and yer bride would ride to Arkansas just so you could get rained on solid for three days and three nights.
Fair weather?!? That's cold, Wheatey. That's really cold, man...

Take a look at my bike and decide for yourself if I've ridden in rain over the last 4 years. Of course, that would mean that I'd have to actually GO somewhere and I haven't hardly ridden the last few years. Life and shit.

I rode without either for decades, because, macho biker shit.

I learned I'm a dumbfuck after getting both in the same year.

I also love my heated grips. It was 59F for my ride in this morning. 15 minutes of that type of cold could be lethal without those heated grips!

I should feel a little bit guilty that my FJR was the dirtiest motorcycle in the parking lot this morning. Of course it was the ONLY motorcycle in the parking lot this morning. And the morning before. And the morning before that...

I didn't have heated gear till 2 years ago, and no heated grips till April of last year...but never let it stop me.

There were four other motorcycles in the parking lot this morning for me.

Oh wait, that was my garage. :D
Working from home sucks for putting commuting miles on the FJR.

Rode it to work, again. Day 243 consecutive ride of 10 or more miles in my quest for a perfect year.

I will NEVER have a motorcycle without heated grips again. Nor heated gear....

I've got to work the football game tomorrow. I love football, but years ago, this job soured that. Oh well, no point in bitching about it....

But Sunday at daybreak, it should be about 48 and clear. Warming up to around 75 and not a could forecast to be seen. I've got nothing, and I mean NOTHING holding me down.

Now, pray tell... what shall I do with myself?

Watch football?

Yeah, right.....

Rode my FJR to work, again, but with the winter gloves and new scarf. Don't need the balaclava or skull cap yet because the sunshine is still very strong. New scarf is from St Benedict's Episcopal School: they're the Stingers, and replicate the old GT mascot in blue.

Gorgeous day in Atlanta to blow up a local landmark. Some walls left standing to protect Ga World Congress Center, our huge trade show venue, and new M-B stadium, who had lots of lawyers on standby if things went badly.

Too bad they errantly placed the lawyers in the wrong location.

Yesterday, 3 buddies and I had 250 miles of nice back roads riding. We discovered a road in south central Louisiana that is very nice and can be used to complete a loop ride that I have been trying to put together for a while. Before knowing about this road, I thought I would have to go at least 50 miles out of my way to connect the other pieces of the puzzle, including a good bit of that on the slab. This new discovery not only takes care of that problem, but it has some nice curves and sights to see along the way.

After all of these years, and well over a 100,000 miles, there is still some uncharted water in my own backyard. The excitement of that part is still a lot of fun to me.

Rode to work this morning. 37F when I left. I broke out the electric gear for the first ride of the season shakedown. Had it turned off halfway to work as I entered the "Heat bubble" of the DFW metroplex and saw 48F by the time I got to work. Everything still worked though so that's good.

I put mine in the corner of the garage yesterday. Did not winterize it. Mainly in hope of getting another ride in before it goes to sleep for a while.

My main reason for putting Halle in the corner was to get my truck into the garage. I hate the .9 miles of a commute in the morning. Can't even get the heater warm by the time I pull into the parking lot at school.
I often have found myself when I was not looking, nor did that discovery take place where I thought it would!

Had a more detailed look at the crash damage from my incident in September, only need right luggage guard and a new slider for the front T-Rex. Bought a used set of luggage guards. Not going to do anything about scratched plastic because chicks dig scars. Made a short farkle list..... just planning the winter projects.

I used to have that kind of commute. Took me 7 minutes from my desk to my front door including two elevators. I used to have to ride extra to let the bike warm up before I got to work when I rode. Now some days are shorter (when I work from home) and others are much longer, with a nearly 100 mile round trip.
