Rode her to work today for the first time in a week or so. She got up on the sidewalk a couple of times (work-related), and I know that made her happy!

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I rode the FJR to work, Again, because the BMW is in a non-running state. Instead of taking it to the dealership I am replacing the starter on the BMW myself. It is almost ridiculously easy.
The BMW starter at the BMW dealership is over $500. Ordered one online for less than $60. I am all about supporting my local dealer but dammit...
Have I mentioned that I hate this BMW?
Mrs. Redfish gently reminds me that I FORBADE the purchase of another BMW automobile. She says that her BMW car was Bitch, Moan and Whine, Buy More Warranty, Bring More Wallet but since we have been spending money on this BMW motorcycle it is now Bikes Made Wrong.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Yesterday, parked my FJR on the sidewalk outside the Park Bar for a 'project crew' happy hour. Normal in downtown. Drank ginger ale. Normal when on the bike. Came out and realized some punk-ass bitch asshole stole my helmet. Bell Star Carbon. Sena was on it, too.
1) Who would have done that except another motorcyclist? And if that's true, only a super-low-life scumbag pukewad pile of shit would have inflicted that damage on a fellow biker.
2) It was partially my fault, since the helmet was hanging on one of TownsendFJR's hooks .... which was not locked. But really, just because something isn't locked down, does that mean it's OK to take it?
I am generally an easy-going guy, but I hope that fucker crashes really hard the very first time he wears my hat.

Not necessarily a motorcyclist. Could be headed to a pawn shop for easy money. Sucks, but that's the world we live in.

Swallowed my pride, and my bile, called Aunt Kelly, and asked her to bring me the Neotec. Rode home without gloves (14 miles, mostly urban Interstate) and actually felt quite uncomfortable with naked hands.
Walked around during the 30 minutes it took her to get there, looking and looking for some punk carrying a blue Bell.

Not another motorcyclist, but yet another fucktard addict, who will sell it for 5 bucks to get his next hit. I'd tell you to keep your eyes open and be prepared to whoop someone's ass, but (using the whiniest voice possible) "it's a disease and they are people too. They deserve a happy life, just like you." Motherfuckers. I hate thieves, and lock all my shut down. Sorry man!Uncle Hud wrote:Yesterday, parked my FJR on the sidewalk outside the Park Bar for a 'project crew' happy hour. Normal in downtown. Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Hud, Sucks to hear about the lid! I had that same thing happen to me back in '01 in Sturgis of all places. Nice Shoei RF900 Pascal Picotte race replica. Course out there it's all pirates and posers anyway and most aren't even wearing helmets. Like you, the one time I didn't lock it to the bike so my own dumb ass fault. I rode the 30 odd miles from Rapid City back to Sturgis with no helmet and hated every. single. second! Screw that "riding free" BS they can have it! Next came where to buy a decent full face lid in Sturgis, SD during bike week! I know, the BMW dealer! They treated me fair and hooked me up with an inexpensive HJC to finish out my vacation with.
On the FJR related note, rode mine to work again. Day number 131 consecutive riding more than 10 miles since that March snowstorm screwed me. Attempt number 2 at a perfect riding year. Let's see if I can make it this time. I was up to 294 when we got that mini blizzard in March.

I beg to differ, Sir.HotRodZilla wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2017 12:18 am AND you, stupid. You bought an old, used, flooded BMW and expected to not have problems??? Bwaaaaaaahahahahaha. I love ya man, but do you want to buy a bridge? Cheap?
I did not buy this BMW. It was a GIFT. I was given this turd by a dear friend who knew it had issues. He also knew that I love motorcycles and that I would ride anything on two wheels. He was aware that I might not keep it but that I would make every effort to get it going and that I would actually ride it. I put more miles on it in two months than he did the entire 4+ years he owned it.
And no, I do not want to buy a bridge.
For those of you who are unfamiliar, New Mexico does in fact have bridges. The bridge over the Rio Grande Gorge just West of Taos NM is spectacular.

My wife is deathly afraid of bridges. She told me, to hell with the life insurance, she'd kill me if we went over that bridge. I'm not stupid, we took another route.

I've been to that R/G crossing more than twice. It's a beautiful place. I've got a thing for bridges, especially steel structures. They are self-supporting, and they take "to the other side".
I dream about one day taking a bike tour that centers around seeing bridges and barns.
Back on topic.... that BMW is Redfish's 25 year old problem step child. He can't in good conscious get rid of it, and yet it's one dam thing after another....

...but I get it, bridges and dams.

All this BMDUBYA talk is convincing me that I would have made a mistake in 1977 plunking down $4000.00 for that R90/6. All turned out well, I got a sleek 1979 red XS11 Eleven Special a coupla years later. My soccer team buddies thought it was awesome, especially after I beat a 78 Suzuki GS1000 down a closed straightaway. First and last drag race. 136 sure seemed fast especially with that 90 turn coming up at the river under the interstate.

Tomorrow, taking a solo cruise north and west of here on 276, 215, 281, 28, 107, 130...hope to be back home after a 240 mile jaunt. You stay on your side of the yellow and I'll stay on mine...certainly in the curves.

Wind out of the north this morning - un-freaking believable!!! Humidity was down at least 10% - 5 buddies and I hit the pavement early. 250 miles of good times. By late morning, it was back to sauna - but for a few hours this morning, it was real nice. What a treat!!!
