Washed it. The wheels were covered in tire lube after the ordeal trying to get the T30's mounted

Pulled the back wheel off Dad's '14. Will pull the front today. Had to make a run to Lowe's to get the 27mm socket for the rear axle nut.

Yesterday was one of the 6 Saturdays in my week and I spent some time putting the recently rebuilt RaceTech G3 shock on it. Interested to see how it compares to the Gen3 stock shock, which I think it quite good. Greased up the suspension links too.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I didn't use it much as a large portion of the riding was more crowded than normal- after church on Mother's Day. Lots of old folks on the road for lunch I guess. What I did like was the ability to add a little friction to the throttle tube without actually locking it in place as many throttle locks are designed to do. I can see the Kaoko being quite beneficial. It's unobtrusive, I don't think many folks would even notice it. The backwards thread has my mechanical brain confused but with practice I'm pretty sure I can get used to it.Redfish wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2017 12:56 pmIt would be nice to know how the Kaoko works for you. I had one on my ST1300 and liked it so well that I bought one for Dad's '07 FJR. He enjoyed it for several years.rbentnail wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2017 12:33 pm Installed a Koako throttle lock that another member sent my way. I have another brand of throttle lock that works well but can be extremely finicky with large temperature swings like the weather we have now. I'm planning on riding a lot of straight and flat coastal while the temps and humidity are still relatively low, it can be miserable during the summer there.
He really enjoys his electronic Cruise Control now.
Speaking of which... I rode Pop's FJR to work today. He has mine. I have a set of tires ordered for his and have a bit of work to do. I am ashamed to admit that I have never pulled a front or rear wheel off an FJR.

Popped the bags on and rode to school today. Rolled right up to the door and parked it on the sidewalk in the back of the school where the teachers park. What a rebel!

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Took the front wheel off Pop's '14 and loaded both wheels in the truck for the ride to Cycle Gear. The manager has been dealing with me there since 2007 and knows I am a bit..."different". He looked at the half worn out PR4s and wanted to know why I was replacing them.
I told him they would not make it from here to California and back. He laughed, told me that was not something most of his customers have to worry about. He slapped my new PR4GTs on in a matter of minutes. He installed the Kurvy Girl Right Angle valve stems and expressed his respect for that product.
I came home, installed the wheels, had to call hppants for some technical advice and now the '14 is one oil change and a wash job from being ready to ride to YFO. At Pop's request I Fatsided his bike, we went with a 190/55. I hope it all works.

Hope you have a nice smooth ride out there Joe. I doubt you'll have any problems with making good time, you do have the fastest color after all. (That being certified by the Tennessee Hwy Patrol damhik)

My new shoes get installed this weekend, along with an oil change. I'll probably pack the bike 90% on Sunday. I'm ready to roll!!

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
First time out, Pop will likely find the bike drops into turns much easier than with the 180 tire, so a little caution if he hasn't had a 1990 before. No problem once you get used to it, it's actually my preference of tire size now.
Yesterday, I swapped out the Helibar brake line extension/OEM hose for the longer HEL line, bled the system, all good.

I'm sorry Tex, but they just certified that yer an idjit...read the fine print...and that that red color is mighty easy to pick up visually.
I'm sure it is fast though, as evidenced by Justin's photo.

EDIT: Oh yeah, rode it to work two days in a row. New record for me.

Keep that up and we might have to change your avatar byline to I ride my fair weather bike once in a while, but still not nearly as much as I post.
