Wonder how cool my 6th grader thinks he is rolling into the school on the FJR?

It takes longer to gear us both up for the .9 mile commute than it would be to drive there in the truck. Yeah that says .9, as is less than a mile.
Yeah, it's 0.9 miles...but since you take all the super secret back roads, it's like 15, right? :stickpoke:

Not sure I could find a "super secret" backroad within 15 miles that is worth riding. :threadjack:
I often have found myself when I was not looking, nor did that discovery take place where I thought it would!

On March 29, 2017, I rode her beyond 50,000 miles. My 2015 ES is a phenomenal machine, and has taken me a lot of places:

Well 50,000 miles on a 2015 is proper riding. Damm fine job, sir!

Rode it for work again. Just about 1000 miles in the 17 days I have owned it. 6 of those it was parked due to rain. I am loving every moment on this bike.

Changed the final drive gear oil. Then rode to my local Honda dealer for an inspection. Then rode to work. Then used the multitool I keep under the seat to bend a coat hanger just right to break into a coworker's Dodge Ram after he locked the keys in it and admitted he didn't have a spare key, even at home. I said, "here's your spare key" as I tossed the coat hanger into the bed. Good day, lotsa laughs.

"Sellout"???!!! For being a 21st Century guy and using fuel injection? Hell, Ramblers were using fuel injection in the early 1960s.

Are your detractors sellouts because they're not riding on wooden wheels, or because they don't have oxen pulling their Harley Davidson?

No. The heckler is one who spends more on Bush Light (3.2% even...) Than most of us spend on an FJR payment. He is part of the XS11 crew and is so cantankerous it's funny.

Sometimes.

I had an XS11 when I was twenty and am not even in the slightest cantankerous.

I still have one. I don't ride it anymore though. It's more of a Memento. I think Harry (Bigfoot) still rides his though. He has a Midnight Special. It's very nice. Harry isn't that cantankerous, but then again, he doesn't drink much either.

If I had an FJR, my XS11 would just be a memento as well...even though in 1979, I thought it was the best bike ever built.

I can remember thinking that the Most Beautiful Motorcycle Ever was the XS11 Midnight Special. The gold wheels and pretty much black everything else...

I had about as much chance of riding one as I did getting a date with Cindy Crawford.

It was the best bike ever built in 79. FJR is the natural evolution of what the XS11 was, in my humble opinion.

I had a '79 XS750 Special. That triple was sweet!

450 miles today with some buddies. My nephew also joined us this morning, but had to break away to get to work.

The fried catfish for lunch was absolutely spot on delicious. Nice day.

With just a few weekends to go before the Ramble I had to make time to get my T30-Evos''s spooed on. The forecast was sunny and warm Friday, and rain all weekend. Not knowing what the weather would be on upcoming weekends, yesterday was the day. No ride. Bu tires would go on.

I started at 10am. It was about 50F out. I put the tires in front of heater to soften them up. First things first, I disassembled my tire changer last June when I moved because the new place doesn't have a garage. Get the bike jacked up and the rear tire off. The old PR3 came off easy peasy. I lubed up both the T30 and the rim.

The next 90 minutes were PURE f@$king HELL. The sidewalls are so stiff on the T30's that I couldn't collapse the tire enough so that it would sit in the well, allowing the rest of the tire over the rim. I ended up with a couple of large C clamps to physically collapse them. Even then, I could barely get the bead over the rim. f@$k! Thankful the front went on easier, but still considerably harder than the PR4's.

Anyway, their on. If I ever buy tires and have them mounted at a dealer, the T30's will be an option, if I'm buying tires in the future that will have me installing them. They are OFF THE f@$king LIST. Saving a $100 for that kind of fuckery is no deal at all.
