My Triumph 900 has a leaky front fork seal so I was forced to ride the FJR yesterday. I hadn't road the FJR in a while. It was an oh my moment and not in a good way. Big, heavy and the suspension wasn't up the the task on the rough roads I ride, just oh my. I am not thrilled the Triumph needs additional service but hopefully a Seal Mate will fix the problem.

Searching for roads paved with Asphalt, unless I am riding the mighty DR650 bushpig or the Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro.

Curious, are you outfitting any of your new bikes? Have you a source for the brake supports or are you reusing old ones/making your own? Seems like the places to pick them up in the Darksider FAQ have all dried up.

I bought some steel bar stock from Ace Hardware about 2 years ago and took it to a local one man shop and had him cut and the drill the holes. I think I' got three of them out of that

A short 150 km ride this afternoon after taking care of some necessities this morning. I had a great time.

Ride report to follow. Stay thirsty, my friends….

The ADV suspensions really do shine on rough roads that make the FJR feel like a rhinoceros. Hope the seal mate does the trick, you've had more than your fair share of wrench time with the Tiger.

I road my FJR in terrible forest fire smoke to Empire Cycle in Spokane where to test road this 2014 Triumph Trophy.

Image

This bike while in the same class as the FJR is quite different. It has much better wind protection. The wind protection is so good it is a determent with temps in the mid '80s today. To compound matters engine heat flows up along the legs to the chest. Man it was hot.

The rear view mirrors are down low like a BMW RT so it is hard to see behind. And oh my the servicing must be challenging because the plastic has to come off to remove the fuel tank to get to the valves, plugs and engine air filter.

The good. Oh my this bike handles well and the suspension is very good even on the crummy pavement I often ride on. Stability is top notch. It drops into the turn and goes where you want without unwanted chassis movement. The engine is a 1200 Triple and it accelerates on par with the FJR. I was doing 60 - 70 mph and it felt like 45. Triumph did an amazing job with the handling of this motorcycle. Think of it as a Barca lounger sport bike.

Alas they couldn't take my FJR in trade because it is worth more than the Triumph and I am not sure I want to own a bike so difficult to work on. I don't think I'd do it. Around here I have to change air filters every 10,000 miles because it is so dry and dusty.

Roughly 58 here, might have to soon put the heated gear controller back on with fresh batteries for the season.

Today I road the Triumph to Priest Lake with the local BMW riders group. We had lunch in Priest Lake. During the day I contemplated selling the FJR, trading it in on something else, or keeping it.
