I followed Greg at CFR. His choice of tire didn't slow him down one bit. It was fun watching his rear tire in the twisties. Seeing the tire off the pavement was interesting.

Searching for roads paved with Asphalt, unless I am riding the mighty DR650 bushpig or the Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I have a decent stock of scrap useable wood in my shop of all sizes and dimensions. A long time ago, a new neighbor had no use for his backyard playset, made out of treated lumber just a year or so before by the previous owners. He took it apart and put it at the street. I picked up every piece. 2x4s, 2x6x, 2x8s, and a few pieces of 2x10. Five Quarter deck boards. I used some of the lumber to make me a lumber rack on the wall of my shop.
I'm ALWAYS finding uses for that wood. All of my friends, neighbors, and family know that I have it - so every once in a while I get a call from _______ "Hey I'm coming over, I need a piece of XXXX". The cost savings is good enough, but what I really like is that when I want to do a project (just like John did), I don't have to go to Lowes. Just grab something and do it.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I had a bunch of scrap wood in my garage for several years and didn't touch it. Then I had to haul it all to our rental house. Six months later when our new house was built, I hauled it here. Never touched it except to move it in all that time. It was always in the way and taking up space, so I put it out at the end of the driveway for free, and someone came and got it.
A week later? Needed some wood and had to go to Lowes. Sigh.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
New battery. Original was 9/14. Bike is a 15ES with 85k miles.
Bought it from Amazon for 118 shipped.
I got the direct replacement from Yuasa. Model YT14B-BS.
The old battery would not push the bike to start consistently for a while now, but I could always get it to fire. Last week in prep for a work trip, I tried to start the bike and she said “nope”.
Today, after filling and slow charging, it got up to 13.6 and I threw it on the bike. New battery fired the bike instantly.
I am still gonna need some electrical tech from Timmy. My aux lights are not working after I tried hooking up the Skene controller.

I replaced my OEM battery on my 2011 (100,000+ mi) a couple of years ago with the same Yuasa battery you bought. I was running into low reserve capacity and a faster self-discharge rate.Cav47 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 11:33 pm New battery. Original was 9/14. Bike is a 15ES with 85k miles.

I have not been as impressed with the replacement. Starts OK but self-discharge rate seems to be higher than it should. Haven't been riding the FJR as much lately so that may be part of it.

I rode the FJR about 200 km today throughout the region in southern Quebec we are currently staying at. Went to the Orford National Parc and walked a while. Then wandered here and there - enjoying this fall like weather.
Ride report to follow.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I changed the brake and clutch fluids. Then took it up to the BRP highpoint. Fun roads, good scenery, 1300cc motor, and beautiful weather. 77F at the doublewide, 59F up at the top. Crisp clear views. Body has to do some adjustments to riding but Im feeling happy mentally, and the physical is being mostly good.
I will test a full day ride next to see if EOM is in the cards, so far its been 90% good...but muscle cramping up spasming tight on a bike is bad if it happens early on a full day of riding. Again, it may be my chicken legs combined with some mild dehydration. Feels good to attempt to get back in the game.
I will include Roan Mtn on the full day ride, and maybe the Snake.

Same! Wheatie, take your time. No one says you have to run a full day of some of the more challenging roads right away. There is no scoreboard nor timetable. As they say, ride your own ride.
I rode over to Springfield today after work and had dinner with the expectant parents. I have a conference in town and the ride over on the straight roads took some time to get used to after my short layoff.

No. He's just letting ChatGpt, or whatever it is, write up his posts....or his phone autocorrected. Of course, given the context, we all knew what was meant...if our education was good enough. Josh, I hope you had a pleasant time with your kin. Again, congratulations!Dan Cooper wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 2:05 amExpectorant????

Rode it yesterday zigzagging the nc/sc state line. Adjusted my suspension. I know how good sc178 is because it’s just out my back door, but I’d forgotten how good sc130 and sc107 were. It was awesome, and the Wiggington Rd connector between the two of them is great, too.
Gonna need a new suspension next year, this one is about done for at 42k mountain miles.
It has an awesome overlook viewing a SC lake.
