Testing AudioVox CCS-100 on center stand

Is it possible to engage a CCS-100 while on CS, engine running, bike in gear??

Currently bench troubleshooting 3 different CCS-100's and this thought passed my cranium scareabellium....



Seems like it should.. If getting coil pulses, in 3rd gear, tire rotating... maybe drag the rear brake a bit for load??

Anyone tried?

BIke have ABS? On BMW GS, if ABS errors, cruise disengages. Not sure on Yammy. But, it's a throttle by wire.

I've tried. It's never worked. Always had to reassemble the bike to get a reliable test and it was a pain in the early days when I tried putting the unit under the tank. I eventually moved to the unit being under the seat where I had better access to the vacuum and the wiring.

My guess is that it does have to do with the load and the RPMs rising too fast for the expected pull on the throttle cable. You could drag the brake and maybe have some luck, but there would need to be a Goldilocks zone. Or maybe you need to be in 5th gear to pull it off. But by the time you try all those combinations out, you could have reassembled the bike.

I once spun rear tire in mud at nearly 0 MPH. Had to get my OBD-II scan tool to clear the ABS/traction control fault code. YMMV.

He's talking a CCS-100 on an '06 FJR. No TBW, no TC, ABS doesn't talk to CC.

If it doesn't work, I'm not sure why not.

(Application of the brake to simulate load WILL prevent it from setting, assuming that it is connected to the brake switch...)

Thank you for the reply guys. Hard to believe I've been trying to fix this since 2012. Off and on you know. I actually found somebody that had a new in the box never used. So I now have three of these damn things.

Thought I would bench test them before diving into the bike. DesignFlaw is correct, it's a pain in the ass to remove the servo when mounted under the tank because the water pipe has to come out.


I thought 'how hard could it possibly be to bench test this thing?


20+ hours later, I'll save it's pretty darn hard.

I had my CC-100 servo mounted under the seat on the '07... I wanted access to it so I could see the LED test light, etc. I had a vac reservoir back there too.

Wow, stone knives and bear skin days. Although they are fuel injected, that's a step up from my DRZ.

Yep, they were cheap and simple... I had a McCruise on my Versys, they are da bomb, but pricey. I'd consider a Rostra for the next one, but they have their quirks too. A bit smaller format though.

Neither did AudioVox.
The CCS-100 was marketed as a car cruise control.
There were never any motorcycle install instructions from AudioVox.

The Rostra units have been used to replace the AudioVox units for years.
Installs exactly the same as the AudioVox except for no vacuum connections.
Adjusting the settings for MC use on the Rostra is a little more complicated, but search for others who have made the installation.
The Concur Owners Group website would be a good place to look.
