Not planning a route that will take you around Toronto and Montreal will lead to …challenges. I’m also looking forward to finding out where Cape North is..

I will have to keep eye on your route; I will be heading to the Northeast in two weeks. Maybe we cross paths at some point.

Enjoy the trip, John.

Cape North is the northernmost point on the Cabot Trail.... you can go north from there to St. Margaret Village on pavement, or take the very gravelly road from there on to Meat Cove.

Highly recommend a route to skirt north of Toronto, and take the bypass (30) south of Montreal... or, for a different trip head for southeast Quebec on to Maine.... depends what you want to see..... alternate route also can be had skirting north of Montreal via say Mt. Tremblant... east over to Shawinigan, etc....... an idea of your itinerary would be helpful......

We have no set itinerary, we will decide where tomorrow's adventure lies the night before after dinner and over cocktails. This is truly a serendipitous trip. I myself would like to spend a day off of the bikes in both Montreal and Quebec City. Other than that........

Take Ray's advice about Toronto. Be wary of forest fires in northern Ontario and Quebec. The season has broken out early. I'm currently in no man's land camping, closest town with more than 10 people is about 100km away. I was planning on moving to a new site today but the highways are closed right where i want to be.

I'll send you my number, if you guys need a place to settle for the night my doors open.

Estevan SK for the evening.
We rode US85 North from Spearfish to Williston ND then meandered North and East to cross the border into Canada at Estevan.

We ran in intermittent rain, heavy at times, from Williston to Estevan.

All three motorcycles ran fine, all stayed dry save for my feet. My four year old Forma ADV Boots leak. Bob Collins is assisting in locating a replacement pair in Winnipeg for me to purchase tomorrow. I tested Suzy's range today, it is 187 miles from Spearfish to Belfield, ND - I arrived with a fuel range showing three miles remaining, Suzy took 4.9 gallons, the tank supposedly holds 5.3 gallons. At 70 mph Into a headwind I got a bit over 37.75 mpg. Too close for comfort. I'll fill my Giant Loop two gallon fuel bladder tomorrow morning.

The forecast for the next few days is rain, rain, and more rain. We may have to hunker down until it gets past us.

Image

My camera and my phone will no longer speak to each other so I can't download my pictures, there weren't many in the rain but i'll seek another way. If i can locate a Micro-USB to USB-C cable I can directly download them to either the phone or the tablet.

A rainy ride to Winnipeg tomorrow..........then boots, drinks and dinner with Bob Collins!

We left Estevan about 0800 at 42f in light rain and with a strong North Wind. As we headed East the rain and the wind intensified. Several hours out the rain quit but the wind increase as it shifted from North to East. The temperature finally rose to 72f about 60 miles west of Winnipeg . We arrived at our hotel and were met by Bob Collins who chauffeured us to a motorcycle shop for new boots and then to a jeans store for JREW. After retail therapy we had a nice supper with Bob at a local diner.

Falco? Waterproof I hope.

I'll certainly test them tomorrow as the forecast is for cool and rainy on our way to Thunder Bay.

Bikes all running good.

Supposed to be cool and rain for the long weekend. This means it'll be miserable going over Lake Superior. Maybe take a down day in Thunder Bay.

Oh ya, in case nobody has ever told you, don't ride Northern Ontario highways after dark. Animals. Big ones.

Sometimes they just walk out the bush and stand in the middle of the road in the day time as well.

I figure they’ll have rain until they go past your house with overnight lows of 1 degree…swell.

I always get a chuckle when moose do that. They'll just drop there head down and stare at the Freightliner slamming on it's brakes with the air horns blowing. At least in the day time you have a chance at spotting them

That looks like a Falco Marshall boot. If it is AI says it is waterproof and has a good reputation. I find AI is much more useful than a web search for a specific questions. The net is just full stuff for sale, not answers to questions. Safe travels.
Searching for roads paved with Asphalt, unless I am riding the mighty DR650 bushpig.
