This 2014 FJR1300A I got last fall for $2k after it had been sitting outside in Midlands Texas for something like 7-8 years, so a lot of the plastics are fairly fragile. The two side vents broke off while riding and I haven't replaced them.
My first 2014 FJR1300ES I got in the winter of 2023 and was wrecked when someone hit me and ran last summer, left me in a trauma ward in San Antonio for a week with 10+ broken bones and an estimated 10-15% of my skin gone, I am still dealing with some of that fun. This was the previous ES next to my 2014 Valkyrie when I got it the winter of 2023 and after the wreck last summer:
My current bike has a lot of parts off the wrecked ES like the whole USD forks front end, the rear crash bars, the RDL seat, the Shad tail reinforcement and 58x top box, the Kury mini floorboards, the ABM tube bar conversion, the Ivan's flashed ES ECU (which oddly enough ES ECU's seem to work fine with no complaints in A bikes), and the 205/55R17 Crossclimate2 darkside rear tire. Sadly the ES front fender was obliterated in the wreck and the left fender mount on the ES fork is broken, so I am still working on getting a front fender sorted out, and I didn't realize the vents would fall apart on the new bike or I would have grabbed the ones off the wrecked bike before insurance hauled it off.
Besides all that I also am running a Dunlop Mutant rear 150/60ZR17 flipped in reverse up front for a double darkside setup, front radial master cylinder off an R7 with a somewhat hodgepodge reservoir setup, my handlebars are the stock bars off a Virago 250, LED headlight conversion plus some added LEDs, FZ1 mirrors, random cheap sleeves for fork protectors.... plus I am probably forgetting some stuff.
So yea, my setup is what some might consider... lets say creative...
