Nice picture file. I joined the cluster a day or two later in Fortuna and rode with Wheatie and the gang for a couple days. Was great fun watching Mark practice plugging a tire until he got it right but then he got even when it was his fault that I tipped my bike over. Good thing Karl was there to help me pick it up or I would probably still be there

I grew up in NORCAL. I recognize that Central Cali will likely be warm and brown in September. Still, I am looking forward to exploring. I've ridden RT 1 from North to South multiple times but have never run it South to North. That should be fun as well.
Unfortunately due to the huge Rat Creek slide south of Big Sur, you won't have the opportunity to ride that section of 1 between Carmel and Cambria this year... it's going to take quite some time to repair that.

Yeah, I've been watching that
But as I am on an "Adventure Bike" what about CA 1 North to the Nacimiento-Ferguson Road up to Hunter-Liggett/Jolon, then King City and then up to Sycamore Flat and then Carmel?

Carver informed me Nacimento-Fregy is closed too.
It is as of now because of slides, mud, etc. in the road but I imagine by September, if not sooner, that should be remedied.

Amazing archive of images. Some I never saw and others bring back fond memories. I had no idea they still existed in original form with the story-line. I still have all the images taken on the great Wheaton tour, and will see if I can make something out of it. for this thread. I enjoyed that trip immensely and still fall back on that as one of the great tours with the FJR group. It was also my hall of shame when I went out for dinner in Bodega Bay and stood up my forever friend Tyler for dinner at the hotel. I'll never regret a decision more. Amazing days in CA before I became TominPA.
It's been a long time since I heard from Karl. I hope there is not a reason for that, but I'll ask anyway, what became of Karl?
Tom, thank you for your post. Your giving Karl and me a tour on our last day in Kali was a great gift. I really don't know where Karl is these days, I haven't seen him in forever. Maybe someone in AZ knows where he is...

I'm hoping/planning to be in Tucson in late March to ride/start my Baja? trip.
Is there any way to find out how to get in touch with the Airboss?
I owe him a beer!

I now have an address, but no phone number...if that’s good enough, I’ll pm it to you.
